Putting together that Hydra model was one of the most annoying experiences I have ever been through. Good for you getting it done but I still have nightmares about pinning that thing.

and I intentionally put together TWO of those.

Bonus: it was glued and primed with no base in the auction. Handlers were missing, though...

I hated the face of the GW Necromancer because it looks so much like Gargamel from the Smurfs. So I did a a headswap with a Warcry kit. I think it turned out well.

Seeing that Hydra (that I hated building SO MUCH) painted and done I decided...Why not paint my own? So I sat down yesterday and just decided to finally get this model done.

I got this model for free after a GW event at one of their stores. When the 7th Edition Metal Hydra was released they were getting rid of the old model and I won it at the store....sooo free Hydra!

Since we are on a bit of a Dark Elf bender right now, maybe this would be the place to put out some feelers.

Does anyone have extra arms left over from the 6th Ed. Dark Elf Warriors set? I won a couple auctions and didn't pay attention to how many arms were on the sprues included.

I'll have to do a count once I get the auction lots delivered to me, but it looks like I'll need a few Crossbow arms and several spear arm combos and possible the parts for a Standard Bearer. I'm also probably gonna be woefully shy on shields. Lastly, and I doubt this'll happen cheaply, I'm missing the spear and hands from the chariot crewman, and I'll be buying another copy of that specific crewman as well. The pewter ones, mind.

I don't think I can help with the chariot situation, but shoot me a PM when you get a count of the plastic 6th ed stuff you need and we can work something out.

Would a kit bash work for this?

Quality work my friend. I do not like AoS but there are a few high quality sculpts.

I am going to try and work the Craven King in as a unit filler for my Vampire Counts as I love the model itself.

Highlord with a Blackstone Fortress

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

I decided to just ignore the old basing standards when necessary to fit new models.

Plastic attack squigs work well on 25mm square bases. Squig hoppers do well on cavalry bases.

The main problem are with things like greater daemons, which now bear no connexion to previous scaling.
The other main problem is 9th Age, which is far stricter on base sizes than WHFB.

The solution is still easy. Squig hoppers are officially 20x20mm and basing them offscale is 'cheating', mine are 25x25, deal with it.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.

It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion. By the juice of the brew my thoughts aquire speed, my mind becomes strained, the strain becomes a warning. It is by tea alone I set my mind in motion.

Some really cool minis since I last dropped by, to counter the glut of Dark Elves here’s some High Elves;

The empty slot is for my Tiranoc Chariot, which I’ll get around to soon now that I have all of the bits. There’s also a bit of touch up work and some shields to make and I will finally have finished my original Army!

Cheers, and keep up the Oldhammer!

Friend of mine was getting rid of his old Dark Elf army, an army I have many fond memories battling against. So I bought it off him as he has quite a few units that are hard to find/expensive should I try to buy them now. They also help fill the gap of missing units I have with the Dark Elf army I built on the cheap.

I'm currently deciding how to build each unit and checking on missing pieces that may have been lost. So far its all mostly intact, the Assassins are missing arms, specifically Shadowblade in the picture but I can easily use Dark Elf Warrior bits to replace that. The Spearman on the Chariot is missing his Spear, but since I already have a Chariot anyway I figured I can use the second one as a mount for a Character so missing him isn't bad either.

With the handful of Black Guard I already had adding to the extra I got from my friend I have a unit of 18! Stripping, rebuilding and basing continues....
