Hrmm not sure what to tell you there. My brain just can't resolve steam punk so stuff like malifaux just goes over my head, and I'm not sure I'll ever want to paint a space marine again... for me it is the impossible question.

Ooh wait I notice now you say malifaux crew or eldar as a break to the marines... I must go with random eldar. They're still allies to marines in one fashion or another, right? Something something unbound if necessary?

Just do yourself and get a cool looking unit that'll be fun to paint, I wouldnt start with troops until you resolve to make the army in earnest.
..

I think I've decided on a Malifaux set, just for something completely different. I really like the Gothic Steampunk aesthetic and I've heard the models are something of a painter's paradise. As for the Eldar, my brother is just starting to play them, so with any luck I'll get to paint a few through that route (I tend to paint his HQs and other Characters). I'd honestly be hesitant to ally them to my marines, it strikes me as fluff-breaking except for specific engagements. I'd ally with Eldar in a team game, but I doubt I'd use them with marines myself unless I had a very good reason to.

I only just finished it tonight, it's the Sekban HRL. Not my favorite result, his pants are super baggy and I'm still not great at painting baggy fabric. I'll give it a bit of varnish tonight and to a pic tomorrow.

Did a little more on a Dark Angels Dreadnought that I started on back at the end of 2nd edition over 20 years ago and recently discovered and decided to complete (feth that makes me feel old!) Almost finished now, but I think I'm going to have to force myself to finish it, since there's a kind of "block" to it. I need to varnish various parts of it in order to get to the next stage, and the weather is awful for spraying, being midwinter....

Guard Heavy Weapon Crewman

Just finished basing 4 scout special weapons and a space marine command squad.

It's funny but I have over twenty units in some stage of assembly, primed, painted or just needs the basing done. As I hate basing will finish today a imperial guard special team, tallarn sentenal, Elysian special weapons squad. Probably could finish all but the elysians in a hour just have make sure no butterflies distract me. :&gt)

Today I will order some more Nomads for Infinity.

Hmn, today? Need to think about that. Well I woke up and painted a statue (the image below's before I covered it in bird crap unfortunately), and have gone on to start sculpting up a few more Raiders to go along with my other Fallout stuff (heh, though spoilers for this evening's blog update-plug, plug, plug). I'd like to finish off some more terrain like the Radio Tower which has been sitting in my workspace all week, but its more likely I'll just be distracted and work on something completely different instead (and well smaller pieces are a lot more useful than a massive tower in the average game). Anyway, that's about it.

D'aww, it looks so clean!

Painted more on my Moira and Moran. Remembered the 'paint the eyes black then do the edges in white until it looks good' trick, but forgot the 'paint the eyes before the rest of the face' trick, so its a case of Grimdork: Almost.

Getting closer to done though, hoping to work through the backlog a little quicker than I have been. Got some Dr who minis on deck though but they should be fun.

Today, in theory, I take the plunge into Malifaux, and coincidentally, my local-ish store has what's left of their Malifaux stock on 25% off marked price (which is already 10% off RRP), so I shall be going bargain hunting. Annoyingly, they didn't have the newer plastics, but I'm hoping to pick up a couple of metals to work through while waiting for my first starter box to arrive.

Today I have finaly figured out what sort of figures that will be best suited for making my long underway mandalorian inspired army, I had originaly figured Vanila Sm would be good for this, but after a few test models I have reached the conclusion that they are in fact too big and well not quite the rigth ones for the task at hand. So I have instead gone with Militarum Tempestus Scions. So today will be filled with modeling and hopefully painting at some point

Apparently, I will not be buying Malifaux minis today. The store, which I was in on Saturday and it was looking like business as usual, closed over the weekend, so I return empty-handed.

Oh well, I've placed an order with Wayland for a couple of crews, so those should arrive in the next few games.

Dag, that's sudden. I almost went to two game stores while out of town for a wedding but neither seemed to have either Infinity nor Mantic products... so I didn't bother.

Been hammering out another Sekban. For some reason this one isn't turning out as well as the HRL, but I really don't want to strip it and start over as I have plenty of others to move on to. Guess I'll just finish him and be happy that it's finished.

Finished painting a second starter set of Plague for DeadZone. It'll likely be weeks before our household shipment is available so I bought another set; figured I can make Plague my primary strike force since few play them locally.

Just need to base and dull coat them before this weekend.
