So I've got my first game with my Daemons on Saturday and it'll be against a Wych Cult. I'm very familiar with Dark Eldar and Dark Eldat tactics, but I've got very little idea what I'm doing with my own army.

I don't know what mission we'll be playing, but it's not really an issue as my entire army deep strikes. I'd just need to remember to claim objectives heh.

Anywho. My enemy's army is something like...

4x Raider Wyches.
3x10 Sniper Warriors.
3x Disintegrator Ravagers.
And I think a unit of Bikers lead by a Archite.
And another Archite in a Wych unit.
edit: Holy crap, I think he runs Absubriel Vect.

My army..
4x Heralds of Khorne on Chariot, Might.
5x Fiends, Might.
3x Flamers.
4x Crushers.
2x10 Plaguebearers.
3x7 Horrors, 3xBolt, 1x Changeling.
3x Phlegm Grinders.

...

Deployment wise, I think I'll need to take as much of my shooting stuff as possible in my chosen wave, in an attempt to take out Raiders and Disintergrators ASAP. Normally I'd take all my "hard" stuff in chosen wave and play offensive/defensive depending on the dice.

So.. Flamers, Horrorsx3, Grinders x3, Fiends.
vs.
Plaguebearers x2, Crushers, Heralds x4.

So yeah.

Any advice, people?

... and my enemy is probably reading this.

There is a thin semantic line between weird and beautiful. And that line is covered in jellyfish.

Supposedly DE hate CC as they are flimsy. I'll tell you how flimsy tomorrow morning (Is versing a friend this arvo - also DE. &gt )

Dark eldar are well suited against daemons... For instance they are very mobile and can outrun your army. They can also lay down a lot of dakka dakka. I think a lot of people will tell you that lances will smoke your grinders but I think they are one of your best set of units versus DE. Here's why...

Each time a grinder is deployed you can drop a pie plate on them. That's three big shots right there... Use them to vaporize the foot sloggers. As it turns out lances are not that great versus AV12+. I know a lot of people will deny this but it's quite true. Taking into account all the rolls to glance/pen a grinder each shot actually has less than a 10% chance to wreck/destroy a grinder plus you ignore all shaken/stunned results and can keep shooting. I would take the risk and land your grinders in cover if possible for the 4+ cover save... This will drop the odds of a lance wrecking/destroying your walkers to less than 5%. The more the dark eldar shoot at your walkers the more heat it takes off the rest of your army.

You need to very carefully decide how you want to split your army into two waves.

i agree with the above, get your grinders in first, they will prove to endure a lot of fire.
you should first try and take out the ravagers, otherwhise they'll wipe away scores of troops each turn, i use them aswell and everybody in my local gaming group already hates me for them
econd priority targets are the whych raiders. if you managa to down them the whyches will die easy (sucking 6+ armor save -.-)
you absolutely dont want to get into cc with them. this will be the most difficult part, as those whyches got an insane attack radius if mounted in a raider (21-32", depending on drugs and sprint rolls, if i'm not mistaken) xD
if he really is fielding asdrubael, just ignore him, he got not enough firepower to do too much dmg and is just too annoying to kill.
if you got the chance, charge him, but dont waste your shooting on him.

swap the flamers and fiends out of the primary drop for the crushers and a unit of plague bearers. Fiends and flamers are really good but also really fragile. Flamers really like an icon.

While I haven't ever met Daemons, I do know DE's weaknesses.

First things first; you're facing a Wych Cult. You'll have a hard time even hitting them in CC. Wyches lower your WS, additional close combat weapons, have two or sometimes even three attacks each, an I of 6 and invulnerable save of 4+.

However, out in the open they're just as weak as the avarage orc - Use cheap models to lock the wyches in CC, let them kill your squad, then open fire as soon as they're out of CC.

If he fields Asdrubael Vect; simply try to ignore him. He's just got slightly more firepower than a Ravager, though he's twice as hard to kill.

In general, DE are weak. Use as much "dakka" as possible. If you run out of ammo; throw rocks. Even that'd kill them.
