How useful?
Resilience, obvious.
Uses? Effective against MEQ's (for its points?)
Can somone give me the % chance of it scattering 1-5"+?
Other alternatives? Hellhound, banewolf, hullfury(?) missiles, collosus, deathstrike missile ( lol..)
Edit: Final thoughts.. I plan to use two, in one squad. That means the points are doubled, itll be tough to remove (with 2 smoke launchers between them (somthing I dont personally agree works but hey ), its killyness vs all unit types undeniable (a couple str 5 hits & a load of str 6 hits will force even TEQ's to make alot of saves but, and heres the thing, its enemy target priority will still be quite low.

Nova Cannons? Arent they normally mounted on Dominator Class Imperial Cruisers?
I'd say they're VERY effective against MEQ's....and Planets.

Oh, my bad...I totally forgot about that weapon. I'm not as familiar with the new IG codex yet as I just picked it up yesterday.

One thing though...I'm SURE the things would be worth the points squadroning 3 together for all those template hits BEFORE counting casualties. (better to have 3 in a squadron fire than 3 seperate)
I'm sure there'll be horror stories a-plenty of Eradicator squadron's shooting.

Mm I picked mine up yesterday aswell. Its so shiny & I wuv it (Heres to being cute!)...
It also looks like I can mod the turret to have some sort of baneblade-style muzzel suppressor on it. Similiar to the thing the Barret anti-material rifle has, just scaled up.

I don't see why anyone would use an Eradicator over a Colossus. 20 points cheaper, one less AP, and longer range in exchange for weaker armor.

Yeah, and what do you do when those Chosen/Tankbustas/whatever appear behind your Colossus and blast it to pieces?

you slap your opponent in the face, kill him and win by default?
LR variants are always the way to go, only good artillery is either bassie or medusa.
Medusas destroy stuff first turn for 140 pts
Bassies are nice S/ap for a lil less points at longer range

If you let Tankbustas get to the rear armor I don't think a Russ would fare all that much better.

Cant fire directly. Minimum range of 24" always. Sucky.

Ah, but where do you put artillery besides at the back where their pitiful armour can survive?

Ofcourse but its an extra weakness direct capable fire weapons dont have.
While griffons can put accurate str 6 pies down at a moderate range, medusa's wtf pwn anything but specifically vehicles with bastion breachers, Collouses are too subjective weapons. That brief band of MEQ hiding in cover is too circumstantial to bother fielding a weapon like this that can ignore cover saves @ ap3. Plus it is just done better/easier by banewolfs. I guess viewed from an anti-cover artilery platform, its not bad.. but eradicators do it better because they can simply live longer and both it & the banewolf can work at close quarters.

The Banewolf also looks a lot less threateing than the LRBTs rolling around in the lines, so may attract less initial attention while it finds solid positioning. Should it survive late it is also a fast vehicle so it can roll out and contest objectives when needed.
As for the Eradicator: MEQ armies are probably still the most popular and quite a few good builds come from the various books that use MEQ type troops. Thus, AP4 still grants a 3+ save to those armies. I feel like having lower AP weapons to force themto roll their cover save as opposed to their better armor save is where its at. Ideally AP2 or better so you can nullify that pesky FNP save that seems to be everywhere these days.
Against horde style armies, the Eradicator is a monster. New IG should be more than capable of dealing with horde armies without it though.

I prefer a Demolisher to an Eradicator. The ability to reliably kill FNP, termies, multi wound models under S5 (before bikes), and any tank in the game is just too versatile to pass up.

See..while MEQ armies are gonna be getting 3+ saves against a nova-cannon.. it'll still be shooting at them & itll still cost a few marines per cannon every turn. Thats not ideal but itll wear down tougher squads over time & it should be left alone in favour of the execs, LRBT, banewolfs, etc. But even with Marine armies, ive seen a fair few types that like to use scouts & plonk them in cover.. often with camo cloaks & in reinforced terrain. Like any other T4 4+ troop, wounds on 2's then death. Whom would otherwise laugh off str 10 ap 1 demolisher pie with a 2+ coversave. & Hey.. str 6 pie isnt that bad, if there is abserloutly nothing else to shoot at, against AV10. Itll never get a cover save! Oh and ork nob bikers may get a 5++ depending on loadout then a 4+ FNP. Multi-tasking! Ive got a bastion breacher medusa, quite a few lascannons & a very nice amount of AP2 fire in general to deal with all the reeeally hard unit-types.

im planning on taking 1 against pretty much every army (especially GEQ's because the best save they have is usually 4+). and since it denies cover, they wont get any saves unless they are marines, termies or invulns =)
