How I painted it up 'till this point:
Calthan Brown
Bleached Bone
Several Bronzed Flesh washes
Drybrushed Bleached Bone

EDIT: Their armour used to be white, but now it has weathered into a sort of yellowish boney colour.

NOTE: All the other basic areas, like eyes, inner armour, scabbard n' stuff haven't been painted yet, but I don't really think that's neccesary at this stage as this should give you a pretty good idea of the general concept of the mini.
I was thinking of painting some areas, like the hands and parts of the backpack and the missile launcher, with the rusty metal technique used on the masterclass converted AOBR Warboss shown in WD351.
This'll probably be how the inner armour and metallic tubes will get done too.
Maybe weathered old red chapter symbols?
can't really think of what colour to use on the eyes either.
Anyways, ya got any suggestions on how I should continue painting them?
Btw, I should probably mention that they're rendered Excommunicate, but they're still loyal to the Imperium, because they scanvenged xeno weapons and machinery in order to survive when they were isolated on a dessert planet when on a mission to twart a small warband of orks that had landed there with their rok.
Because of this I'll be doing some convertion work at some point, combining their weapons with xeno technology(I don't give a grot's-behind if this is impossible in the fluff).
Due to their long isolation on the planet, I also want to give them a really old and weathered look, like something that's been too long without maintenance.

it looks more like sand stone to me than rust-maybe try a different technique?

big mek boomsnikk:
Well the armour I've done until now is supposed to be old white armour that has weathered over time and become a sort of yellowish bony colour, not rust(maybe I should write that in the first post).
But I'm thinking of painting parts of the armour with a rust technique.

I find it interesting, odd, and rather unrealistic that EVERY piece of kit from the armor, to the crevices, to the equipment hoses are all the exact. Same. Color.

Even the undersuits where you can see behind the knee, the knife, his eyes, the worky bits of his weapon (sure to be lights and things on it), his backpack, the obviously metal armature on the side of the backpack, everything... All the same color.

I can't bare to think of a whole squad done like this, let alone an entire army.

You have to throw in some contrasting colors. It will never work if you don't.

That's a good base, just detail it well and it should be fine.

Also making the scabbard & pouches a different color would look better.

Napalm:
Thanks.
I think I'll give them a leathery look.

Ghidorah:
This is work in progress in case you didn't notice...
I'll write that I still haven't finished all the basic stuff in the first post just to make that clear, sorry for missing out on that.
Could you please give some suggestions on which contrasting colours I should use?
After all, that's kinda the purpose of this thread.

I think a medium to bright green eye would look nice and striking.

A deep red for a chapter color or insignia would look pretty good.
