This has certainly been an interesting past two months. Since last October, I've been mostly working on two horde armies (Tyranids and Orks), after a long hiatus from the hobby, and have cranked out about 250 figures since then. For April and May I decided to try something new and work out of my normal comfort zone on a couple of fronts. First up were my projects assembling and magnetizing the Land Raider and Baneblade, my first real attempts at serious weapon and wargear swapability. Then I took on the Barbed Hierodule, my first Forgeworld model and to-date, the biggest model I've worked on. This weekend I should finish painting a Valkyrie, my first real vehicle, which was assembled with fully magnetized hardpoints. Lastly, I took on 66 WOTR Orc (some break from painting hordes) and painted them for my LGS. Good stuff all around.

Just thought I'd share. It was refreshing to work with something different as it was hard to paint more of the same thing and these projects were a nice reason to try something new. Fortunately, they turned out OK ... at least I thought so.

Hmm, congrats on your internal reflection!

It's good to see people thinking about the hobby.

I'm liking the paint scheme on that all those models, especially that Hierodule.

250 models?! more than I've painted, though I should start getting off my lazy butt and paint more often. Congrats

Some people play to win, some people play for fun. Me? I play to kill toy soldiers.

Great work, mate! I'm constantly changing up what's on my painting table to avoid burning out.

Great reflection. Gives me an idea on how I should approach the hobby myself.

I'm lucky to paint 30 models in that time.

I'm assembling a valk now (I've done two tailbooms and a wing so far). This will take me about a fortnight (getting into winter, so it takes longer for the bond to cure and stop smelling bad. Wife has asthma, and the toluene fumes from it mean it isn't allowed in the house while she's in it).

That's ok, it gives me the time to figure out how to arrange the door gunners so that they can BOTH fit inside with doors closed.

Good work on the big creepy bug-thing. Also shows you have patience (something well needed when dealing with FW products).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

I'm thinking about picking up the set of Imperial Advisors. They look like interesting figures to paint up.

So you went from working on a horde army to...working on a horde army to...
working on a horde army.

Well, the WH40K Orks were a break from my Tyranids. The WOTR Orcs were for my LGS, who needed them by this weekend for some games they're hosting at a local convention. I figured, in for 10, in for 60. The Baneblade and Valkyrie don't really count as a horde, as I don't really have any plans to pick up any guardsmen ... yet.

You have done far more than I!

I spent the last two months wathching will and grace re-runs,and then passing out after eating KFC and waking up to will and grace re-runs.

Looking good I applaud you for you're excellent work(I would say sir,but I guessed from the avatar that you are female, sorry for the confusion).

Regards
Deff
