Well, I was going to put together some Veterans in Carapace Armor, but I am not really sure what approach is easiest, yet still looks good. Does the new plastic Shock Troops kit include anything for this? Or do I need to sculpt up via greenstuff some extra plates? I will already be doing some extra work with cloaks and shotguns, so I will not mind a bit of extra work, but I want them to be WYSIWYG, if possible.

Any ideas? Links? Sorry if I didn't turn this up already in search, but I tried (and its 4am, so I am not at my sharpest).

You can just use the Kasrkin boxes. I think they're the only ones with Carapace armour.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

I would either model on the plates with Green Stuff or plasticard. However, you could try to source some other torsos that might look ok. Which Shotguns are you using? I used the Space Marine Scout one but they seem a little oddly scaled for the hands...

I am ordering the FW upgrades for the Shotguns.

I think I will test out sculpting on some plates, because I do not want metal models. Kasrkin look awesome, but being metal means I can't use the Shotguns from FW and they would be boring. With only ~25 models that need the armor, I can do most of it with simple greenstuff add-ons, but that will be time consuming as all get out.

Anyone know if the new Shock Troops box has anything that could be carapace armor?

The fething 'new' troop boxes don't have a God-damned single new thing in them. Not one fething new bit. The only thing 'new' is the 33% price hike.

There are rumors of plastic storm troops with shotguns coming but no date.

Your best bet would be plasticard shoulder pads and knee pads (both fairly easy shapes), marine scouts with Cadian heads, storm troops or a kitbash (I use Brett Men at Arms).

I will be using Kasrkin for my Grenadiers, however I need to up-armour my command squad from the basic Cadian models. I think the most obvious missing armour is the leg armour. For the rest you could probably get away with saying that its just better quality plates in the Flak vests and shoulders.

Heavier, more angled shoulder plates maybe?

I'm doing mine with FW respirator heads for the vets and flight helmets (from the valk door gunners) for the command squads plus some GS shin guards.

Covered faces is good way of showing the extra armour.

Thin plasticard (0.5mm or if using Evergreen stuff
010) plates for the rear of the tunic 'skirt' + thigh plates.
GS knee & wrist armour.

Different helmets (mine use Pig Iron visored helmets. HD.7) also help and some backpacks.

GS and pig iron helmets. work great. I used that for my =I= stormtroopers conversions. Vox backpack and wire good to go.

Well, I will be getting all the shotgun and upgrade kits from FW, because I have money to burn on this army. I am not bad with GS, so I might sculpt on the armor over plasticard, as it might not look right. I will test that out.

No date on plastic storm troopers? Lame. That almost makes me want to wait, but mine are Veterans with Carapace, not Stormtroopers. So...Hmm. Choices, choices.

Scouts work pretty well with cadian bits.

If you can find a place that sells the valkyrie cew dudes as bits they'd be a good start.

Do you play 30k? It'd be a lot cooler if you did.

The Cadian heads work really well on the plastic scouts. That's probably your easiest solution for vets with carapace armor and shotguns. They also have heavy weapons if you want to go that route. The HB can easily be made into an AC or a lascannon.

The whole torso and legs are one piece Valkyrie door gunners.
