Hey everyone,

After the complete failure of my last list (see it here at http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/239384.page), I tinkered about with my ork one a bit to make it better. Btw I wrote this during school, so some values might be off a bit. Please correct it if any are wrong. And the reason its multi-coloured is that I'm doing squads from lots of different clans. So anyway, here it is...

HQ:
Warboss w/Power Klaw, bosspole, 'eavy armour and tl shoota - 100pts

Big Mek w/Shokk Attak Gun and 'eavy armour - 100pts


Elites:
9 Lootas w/ 1 mek - 135pts

5 Nobz w/ 2Power Klaws, 2 Big Choppas, Waaagh! Banner, Rokkit-shoota kombi, 1 ammo runt and 'eavy armour, led by Painboy w/ grot orderly - 243pts
Mounted in Trukk w/Stikkbomb Chukka - 40pts

Troops:
10 Grots led by Runtherd - 40pts

10 'ard Boyz w/rokkit launcher, led by Nob w/PowerKlaw and bosspole. - 150pts
Mounted in Trukk w/Boarding plank - 40pts

20 boyz w/ 2 big shootas, led by Nob w/Big Choppa and bosspole - 150pts

20 shoota boyz w/ 1 big shoota and 1 rokkit - 135pts

12 boyz in Trukk - 107 pts

3 Deffkoptas w/tl rokkits - 135pts

Heavy Support:
Looted Wagon w/Boomgun, 2 big shootas, Grot Riggers and reinforced Ram (only cos i needed to fill a gap) - 125pts


Any critisism or help accepted (not neccesairily well, though... )

Get rid of the Rokkit on the shoota boyz, replace it with another big shoota.

That nob squad is a little odd. You planning on doing Nob Bikers-esque wound allocation?

I would make those 'ard boyz just regular boyz, and add 2 more.
Get rid of the grots unless you have specific plans for something.
They either come in mobs of 29 or none at all, as far as i'm concerned.

1) slugga = the pistol equivalent of shoota ?

2) if i model the ork boy to hold 2 slugga , would you allow it to count as shoota?

Umm... well, 2 bolt pistols dosen't make a bolter, does it... So no.

I'd take the stikkbomb chucka off the trukk and just give the individual nobz stickbombs, so when the trukk blows up (When not if) your nobz will still have the advantage charging into cover. Also remove the big shootas from the normal boyz squad when they aint running they'll be hitting people.

1) Yes.

2) Cool people would . One of my Shootas holds 2 Sluggas and nobody has said anything against using it.

I have alot of problems on gluing shootas, they never fit properly until many tries.

Ok this may be something you already know (if so sorry)but it is worth pointing out that all the shoota arms have a corresponding bracing arm (as they are all in slightly different positions) the easiest way to match them up is by matching the wrist bands on the gun arm to the bracing arm.

Personally, Id drop the PK on the Warboss and pick up a regular ol' choppa. 7 x S6 attacks at I 5 is enough to ruin anyone's day. Same with the Nobz and id also drop the kombi and Big Choppas. You dont get the extra attack with the Big Choppas or PK. SAG is good and its fun!

Troops:
10 Grots led by Runtherd - 40pts

Drop the Grots all together

Ard Boyz are for assulting, drop the rocket. add 1 more boy for 11+1 Nob

20 shoota boyz w/ 1 big shoota and 1 rokkit - 135pts

Make this to 30 boyz w/3 BS

Make one a Nob with a Bosspole

Id get rid of the ram and BS's all together, if your shoot the Boomgun you cant shoot anything else AND if your oponent rolls a weapon destroyed result. they get to pick the weapon (trust me, it wont be the BS) If you have extra PTS. pick up ard case armor plates.


Anyway, this is just what I would do. As my friends say, "Never trust an Ork when it comes to strategy."

Orks can do anything that any other army can do and do it better than they can. However, they cannot do everything that any other army can do. Make sense? If you make an ork assault army, they'll out-assault any other army in 40k. If you make a shooting army, you can outgun IG or Tau. If you go foot-slogging, or mechanized, or kan-wall....all those options make you a completely awesome army, but there's a catch. You can only do one of them at a time with an army list.

If you combine a mechanized and a foot-slogging list, you're going to lose. If you have part assault, party shooting, you're probably going to lose. Your strength is in being able to pick something and be completely awesome at it. So before giving you advice on where to go next with your army, you need to pick a theme and build around it. If you want a bike army, or a shooting army; an outflanking army, mechanized, assault, figure out what your playstyle is and start building your units and armylist around that idea.

THAT is the strength of Orks.

When you decide what you want your army list to be, start by explaining what your intent is, then post an army list along those lines and we'll work from there and make suggestions.

As it stands now, you've combined quite a few elements of ork arsenal into an army list, but there's no clear theme. Your numbers are underwhelming and half strength, which is a bad idea, Looted wagons don't belong in ANY army list because of how much they suck, and combining foot slogging + mechanized with underwhelming gretchin is pretty much any army's wet dream for an opponent. You're playing to every ork weakness and none of their strengths.

So tell us what you want to do, and we'll help you get there.

I think i want an army capable of cutting down marines and tanks and daemons... any suggestions?

And the reason i took the Loted Wagon and lootas is that i origionally did my army as deathskulls, and i like to keep to the fluff of the army rather than think of a winning list.

Your first post noted that your last list was a complete failure; if you want to make a list that *isn't* a complete failure, you have to be willing to give up emotional attachment to certain vehicles or units and experiment.

The answer to killing MEQs is one of three things:
A.) Lots of attacks.
B.) Burna Boyz
C.) Power Klaws

The answer to killing vehicles is one of three things:
A.) Lots of attacks
B.) Tank Bustas
C.) Power Klaws

The answer to killing Daemons where everyone has an invulnerable save is one thing:
A.) Lots of attacks



There's a common theme in there - lots of attacks and powerklaws. I don't care how you assemble them, configure them, structure them, play with them...as long as you do it big. Better to have one full strength unit than 3 half-sized units when you're ork. Cut stuff out and fill up your other units...again, you need a theme. Both dakka and choppy lists can take down marines, tanks, and daemons, but you have to choose which one to go with and work from there. If you want a dakka list, a nob squad doesn't belong. If you want a choppa list, lootas don't belong.
