Liquid polystyrene cement for plastic models.

Epoxy resin for metal.

Milliput resin for filling gaps.

All depends on the situation. They all have their uses, including the ones krazynadechukr2 listed, and I use all but the liquid plastic - I haven't heard of that one before.

What harm can it do to find out? It's a question that left bruises down the centuries, even more than "It can't hurt if I only take one" and "It's all right if you only do it standing up." Terry Pratchett, Making Money

I was basicly trying cover the diffrent types of adhessives or binding agents such as green stuff the other section for anything i didnt list because ive only used those 3 and i find plastic glue easy work with then some super glues which more difficult and green stuff just epic.

But that's exactly it, green stuff isn't even a glue and hardly counts as a binding agent, it's for sculpting and gap filling. It should be in a completely different category...

I have gotten several things from other people (Ebay/trades) that were assembles using GStuff. Some people DO use it for glue.

Personally I use plastic when gluing plastic (I love having a bit of working time and the strength), Superglue for plastic/metal or metal/metal, White glue for basing/terrain.

I think the GW plastic glue is rubbish but I've found a realy good one called contacta professional which has a needle like end to get the glues into akward place

Same here.

Since the poll asked for my overall 'favorite' I voted plastic glue. It binds stronger than super-glue, it's easy to pose, the fumes are less noxious and you can lightly brush it on to eat mold lines with better results than filing or knifing.

Besides, if I do another army, it'll be all plastic so I won't even need super-glue.

Well I've never used it as a glue per se, but for metal models with fiddly bits that simply will not stay on the model (like the zoanthrope) I'll mix up a little dot of GS and use both it and superglue just to make sure the damn part doesn't fall off after holding it for 10 minutes.

But I don't consider it an adhesive like glue, and I'm not entirely sure I see how a model can stay together when GS is the only thing binding all the parts.

super glue lets you snap pieces off when the newest codex changes your options.. Much better for me than melting them together via plastic glue

I lol'd. I don't know Manchester, but it was still pretty funny. I guess I just like geographical humor.

darkangels_rule wrote:DO IT ....YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO

You have no idea how right you are. Two heads are screaming at the third for being a wuss. I want to, I really, really do. But, such is the nature of this community, there are some extremely touchy people here and I honestly never intend to offend or piss people off (unless you're one of those text-speaking idiots who can't be bothered to type a coherent post). I just call it like I see it and that tends to get people all butthurt.

The crux of it was that I don't buy into all that "you have to use plastic glue for plast minis or to adhere plastic to metal bits". I use Citadel CA exclusively. I use it for every model I've made in the 15+ years I've been in this hobby. I never (NEVER) have had a part just fall off. Not once. I have even dropped plastic models (Guardians) on the concrete floor of our FLGS and had it bounce and skitter away. Rarely has anything popped off.

Point is, a decade ago, we didn't "have to use" plastic glue on stuff because it largely didn't exist in our hobby. It was around, sure, but you never heard about it. All of a sudden, GW starts selling this crap and telling us it's better and it has taken on this stigma and, what do you know? G-Dubbs is selling twice the glue...

Almost like him.

I use Squadron Green (and liquid poly) to patch gaps.

Superglue gets used mainly for quick repairs. When I get a chance to fix it properly, the epoxy comes out.

I hate green stuff, it takes too long to dry and I can just use super glue and have it work better.

If its plastic, I use plastic glue (testors) and the bond it makes is just INSANE! Ive yet to have anything fail a drop test, and we play in my garage with a concrete floor.
It doesnt work at all on metal tho. In that case I use pins and gel super glue.

Plastic Glue has been "around" for a damn time longer then GW. I really have no idea what you mean by the statement "didn't exist in our hobby." And why in the world would a thread about glues make you "have to strain to hold in the rant"? Really?

OP: I use Testor's plastic cement for plastics and Zap-a-Gap for metal or mixed. Plastic cement gives the melting and longer positioning times then other glues.

I'm assuming that he's originally a non-GW player who only played metal minis, because otherwise, he'd know that GW has had plastics since the original RTB-O1 Beakies.
