Yea, I jumped on the bandwagon. Can you really blame a guy for wanting the newest toys?

Anyways, the valk and russ are my first attempts with airbrushing. The valk is a bit bland, but I'll have some new photos of it tomorrow with it's camo scheme. Any of you airbrushers out there care to give me some direction? One thing I'm running into is overspray, any thoughts there? Thanks for any opinions, suggestions, criticisms.

I'm kind of regretting not painting my army green. The green just looks great on tanks and troops.

I see that you are holding three aces against the the enemies of the Imperium.

You have a flyer (Valkerie), never fly into a frontal attack. always come in from the flanks. Priority are heavies like tanks, grav tanks artillery. next get those warlocks and psychers. followed by snipers and then targets of opportunity.

Cannons, coordinate the attack with the flyer to hit the same enemy armor and eliminate them one at a time.

The same with the Russ. you can't face them toe to toe. You have to eliminate them one at a time.

I've never used an airbrush, but I have seen people using masking to prevent overspray (blu-tac, masking tape, foil, whtaver). It will give you a more hard-edged pattern but might be a bit more controlable.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

If you are getting overspray, try thinning your paint a tad more, and turning down the air pressure. If your airbrush has a removable spatter cap, you can take it off and turn down the pressure while holding the brush a bit closer to the model. This achieves finer lines. If you have a realy basic airbrush, and it doesn't have any of these features, you can cut out some rough shapes from poster board and use them as stencils by holding the brush further back and holding the stencil somewhat close to the model. If you want to upgrade airbrushes, check out airbrushdepot.com or kustomshop.com. The master series airbrushes are very affordable and work just as well as the pricier Iwatas and Paasches. I have used most of them at one time or another, and I prefer the Masters brushes. Also, remember to keep your brush clean useing whatever method suggested by the manufacturer. If your brush is dirty, it won't spray well. If your brush is solvent proof, like mine, you can fill a large container with enough lacqer thinner or acetone to submerge the brush. With the air supply still attached, and the paint supply removed, hold down the trigger and flush it with solvent. DON"T attempt this if your brush dosn't have hardened rings, or is made of plastic, strong solvents will melt it. Be very careful with the needle, it is extreemly delicate and easy to bend. Once bent, you have to replace it, and that can be a pain in the a$$, depending on the complexity of your brush.

I am also an IG player, by the way. I can't seem to dig up any pics of airbrushed models at the moment, but here is some other stuff I airbrushed recently

Thanks for the tips Gil. I have an Iwata Revolution CR so yea I can remove the spatter cap. What would be a good pressure for going "close in" with the brush? I normally spray at 25-30 psi.

Quick edit with new valk pics. Slowly working up the camo scheme, still extremely WIP. Adding on the engines and things soon I hope. I'm trying to take it a little at a time to avoid any mistakes.
