Hordes of boys charging. A couple of squads of lootas. Basically anything that can force them to take a very large amount of armour saves.

If they're in landraiders then you will have problems, but orks cant easily kill heavy tanks.

Charge them.

One 30man ork boy squad with a nob.

Shooting kills 1.6 a turn, with 29 boys firing shootas (that looses them attacks in CC but makes them better all-rounder troops & I wanted to suggest a viable option).

Charge wise.. each ork gets 3 attacks on the charge @ WS4, I4, str4. (i think..) so 29 orks swinging nets you 3.6 dead terminaters.

That plus the shooting equates to over 5 dead termies. Thats not including the str 8 nob power claw swing (but with a 3++ I didnt bother).

Get stuck in, with lots of boyz.

Just pk them to death. Unless we're talking about assault termies with SS. Then you'd best steer clear.

As a regular termie player (Deathwing) against my son's Orks, my aims are to hit one flank hard (so the Orks can't bring their strength of numbers to bear as they get in each other's way), but sticking predominantly to the magic 24" range where my storm bolters can shoot with full efficiency.

What I fear is being charged by Orks -- even Slugga Boyz mobs, even ones that are reduced in numbers. But I also fear Shootas who can get to 18" range of me & unload a volume of fire. So that's 2 approaches.

If the termies are showing up by DS, you should avoid having vulnerable flanks...

Thing is, a squad of 5 terminators costs less than a mob of 29 Boyz and a Nob with PK, and even reduced to half strength of 14 Boyz and a PK Nob, you should be able to wipe out the 5 termies if you get the charge...

I don't use separate assault termie squads though.

Then they're not doing any damage and should be ignored. Of course you could always try to assault the LR - S9/S10 claws from Nobs/Boss on the charge do stand a chance - but only if circumstances demand it (eg. Termis need to be shifted off an objective).

If it drives >6", ignore it until it stands or the passengers disembark and become useful.
