So... what operating systems are people working with? At work I use Windows XP and at home I use Mac OS X. Looking forward to the Snow Leopard release by Apple soon.

At home, I am running Vista, because I've got a 64-bit machine, and pretty much need to utilize the 8Gb of Ram. Plus, I like playing games.
At work, I use:
WinXP (32, 64 and It64 versions)
Windows Vista
Linux on x86 (32 & 64 bit versions)
Linux on Itanium 64
Linux on Power PC (32 bit & 64 bit)
Linux on s390 (31 & 64 bit)
HPUX on Risc (32 and 64 bit versions)
HPUX on Itanium (32 and 64 bit versions)
AIX on Power PC (32 and 64 bit versions)
FreeBSD on x86
Solaris on sparc (32 and 64 bit versions)
Solaris on x86 (32 and 64 bit versions)
and Symbian (the mobile-device OS)
...
Yeah, I'm a software developer, and we specialize in cross-platform development.

Vista at home, XP at work.
I still think most of the griping about Vista is uncalled for, but, meh. That's just me.

Haven't used it so I don't know. I hear that Microsoft 7 is supposed to be a great release for them (as far as being a stable system).

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

At work / out of office: Macbook Pro w. OSX (+Vista)
At home / office: MacPro w. OSX (+Vista, Win7, XP some Linux dists.)
The windows and linux versions are mostly to be able to check website layouts in different browsers when doing design for web.
Haven't touched the "linuxes" in a year though. Most companies are OK with the "Will work in IE7+, Firefox3+, Safari3+. Will be useable in most other browsers" paragraph in the contracts.
Vista on stationary computer at home for running games as well.
Really looking forward to Snow Leopard, or not really, I'm afraid it will break some of the Adobe-programs I use for a living, just like any other major upgrade to OSX. But the new stuff just looks great.

I know what you mean. My GF uses the entire Adobe suite for photo editing and she had to skip OSX for a while because it would have meant shelling out an ungodly amount of money for the new suite.

Oh, Death was never enemy of ours!
We laughed at him, we leagued with him, old chum.
No soldier's paid to kick against His powers.
We laughed - knowing that better men would come,
And greater wars: when each proud fighter brags
He wars on Death, for lives; not men, for flags. |

Windows XP that only looks like Vista (it's a theme patch).
It confuzzles people. Also stops my brother in law from using my computer as he can't deal with it.

I use Vista on my desktop because that's what it came with, and XP on the laptop I use to run my engraver, because it's the low-dollar model and isn't compatible with Vista. I went straight from a $200 used laptop with Win98 to a brand new desktop with Vista, so I never used any of the other versions of Windows between the two that polarized people so much.

I use XP because it seems to like me.
*pats XP disc gently*
Other OSs just seem to get angry with me and cause my computer to make chewbacca noises.

XP or Kubuntu. My new laptop has Vista preinstalled but we'll see about that . I work with Vista all day because I do warranty service... other than some picky customers who snagged the downgrade, machines in warranty are 95% Vista ATM. It's faster to install though, so that's a good thing for me.
