Funny story. I was at the comic shop this past week for game night. One of my friends was giving someone else crap for wearing a cookie monster shirt. "What kind of grown man wears a shirt with a character for a kid's TV show on it" and the like and asked me if I agreed. I pull out the phone and flash the Rainbow Dash lock screen at him. He stares at it for a moment. "You've got to be kidding me!" Pulls another guy over asking if he'd seen what I have on my phone. I show the other guy and he doesn't bat an eye. "Yeah, he plays Cryx, that's pretty common." I got a kick out of it.

I watch the series on YouTube, since I don't get the Hub here, and I just hit Prt Sc if I see something I want to save and use later, then paste it into MS Paint for later editing.
As for names, well, that won't happen. I always write the entire thing out.

Watch YouTube, and when you find a good scene with a shot you want, his PrtScn to grab a screen capture of it. Paste into Paint, and edit the picture to what you want.

Prt Sc, or Print Screen, is a button that should be above your navigation (arrow, home, end, page) keys. It copies an image of what was being output to your screen at the time.
"This is Ponyville Tech Support; helping anypony, anytime. What seems to be the problem?"

Print Screen (PrtScn) will "Copy" your entire screen image at the moment. You then have to Paste it into a paint program of your choosing.

I'm on a bad connection too, so I feel your pain, but the gif loaded far faster than the image I had originally posted...
Also the print screen button is generally on the upper right side of the keyboard, far above the arrow keys. If you're on a laptop, it might be one of the function buttons.
