Got a few 15mm space goblins paint up. These are the usual Ion Age Maligs. First guy you've actually seen before, only with a tan uniform.

We have one in a very basic pose

Lastly, we have one that's smoking.

These Ion Age goblins have really grown on me. For 15mm miniatures, they have a ton of personality to them. I think next I'll be working on the Beotan Lycantrhopes, another Shian Khan auxiliary force from Ion Age.

I got a bunch of Stage 3 Plague Mutants in my Crazy Box and while doing some cleaning, I realized I had quite a few I just simply hadn't actually painted yet. So, I wound up starting a trio of Plague Mutants to be used as Chaos Cultists with my Plague Marines. I'd say they fit the bill quite nicely for hanging out with them. All of the spines and spikes and weirdly elongated bodies helps tie them in with the Pox Walkers.

I said I was working on my Beotan Lycanthropes from Ion Age, and I have been. Most of them are nearly done. I completed two already.

Here's a regular trooper, armed with a Maia MPI smg

and here's the squad leader with a scouter,a Maia and a Cupid pistol.

I'm not completely ignoring 28mm though. I completed a Republic Commando sniper from Anvil's Afterlife series.

Here's a case of my poor lighting striking once again. All the colors sort of blend together in this shot, but his rifle casing has an off-white coloring with metallic barrel. His armor is khaki, while his undersuit is a lighter shade of grey.

Two desk lamps. Two daylight 60W equivalent CFL bulbs. Use the right setting on the camera. Easy peasy. If you need a diffuser a piece of cloudy plastic works... like those sterilite containers have.

Smokin' Space Goblin FTW!

Part of my problem with photography is that I just don't have a good space to take photos at my house. If I had a large enough space, I would try that out, Red Harvest.

I was somewhat productive this weekend. Painted up another Plague Mutant from Mantic.

I also completed the rest of the Beotan Lycantrhope squad.

I also received an order which had my latest Khanage reinforcements. This was another Psychoborg robot, a heavy weapons system for the Khanate, some artillery bases, and a freebie Duxis battlesuit. I managed to get the heavy weapon and its crew painted up already.

This is the Selene Portable Weapons Platform and its crew. This variant is equipped for anti-infantry.

I should have the artillery base for it finished tonight and I'll be starting on some robots and mecha next.

The tiny space pups are great As usual with 15mm pulpy sci-fi, I find myself wishing they were 28mm so I could get proper Counts As use from them

Actually, Ion Age was originally a 28mm line back in the 90s. The old models are still available. I've painted a couple of the 28mm Prydian Retained and Shia Khan Legionnaires. The Shia Khan Legionnaires and Maligs are both available in 28mm, too. So, if you want some pulpy Rogue Trader-ish space figures, they're still around.

Here's a little something else that's in my queue. Just assembled it last night.

The guy is a Khurasan model, isn't he?

And the tank by the guys that did that snakeman army?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Yeah, that's an Astagar snakeman tank. The guy next to it is actually from Micropanzer, not Khurasan.

I didn't do too much last night, but hey, I did at least finish two more figures!

Arty base is finished.

A rioter about to hurl a bottle

and I got around to painting my Nephilim sniper.

I still have a bunch of Nephilim that need painting. I was going to work on mecha and robots last night, but had a mishap with one of the figures. So, hopefully today I'll get to working on them.

Thank you! I came to look as your figures are pretty amazing, and ended up seeing your mention of Ion Age. Went to have a look as I love the older style figures, and found this again! When I was a kid, I used to try and buy cheap figures from random places, and I ended up with a that three pack. I might have one left in the garage, but still it's so great to see them and know I can get them again!

Same here. My dad used to work near a hobby/gaming shop and would frequently buy miniatures for me and my brothers. He used to get us figures from RAFM, Denizen, and Ral Partha. He once bought me a set of Prydian Retained with rocket launchers. I thought Legion of the Damned looked cool at the time, so he painted my Prydians in their colors. I do wish I knew what happened to those old minis.

Wow that is obscure- even I don't remember you own those guys.

I remember the RAFM stuff, and Kryomek, but not any Ion Age.

Got an update. We'll start with the sci-fi stuff.

I finished the pair of Stryx Recon Mechs from White Dragon Miniatures that my brother got me over the holidays.

I have another Proteus combat mech to accompany them, but I haven't assembled it yet. It's up next in the queue.

Next we have Landmates. Yes, Landmates. Like the ones from Appleseed. Very clearly based on the Guges model, too.

These are also 15mm models. They're produced by Darkest Star Miniatures who have a small range that is very heavily influenced by Masamune Shirow's various works. They're the company that made my 15mm Briareos Hecatonchires figure. They also make several variants of Not-Tachikomas and Not-Fuchikomas and another type of Landmate.

Next, I painted another Psychoborg robot for my Ion Age Khanate forces. He's the exact same type as my other one, so I slightly reposed him for a bit of variety. Unfortunately, the Psychoborgs come with a random loadout, so I had no choice in what I got.

Now, onto fantasy. I picked up some fantasy minis on Saturday with the express purpose of reselling them once they were painted. The experiment with the Beholden was a success, so I figured I'd try it again.

This time, we have an armored skeleton. I believe he's called a Barrow Warden? He's a Reaper Bones figure.

Then we have some Mimics. These are from the Wizkids line.

Well damn, that was quick.

The Custodes I got are sitting assembled, waiting for the wind to die down so I can go get them sprayed all golden, and you've already finished your stuff.

I wouldn't really call it a fair comparison. I had three figures with simple color schemes that didn't need assembly or priming versus your seven multipart figures that needed priming and most likely need to be painted in broken dow. Assemblies. Your guys will need way more work than these three.

I did a fair bit of work on my Astagar tank last night. Aside from the tracks, the whole chassis of the tank is complete. Unfortunately, this is a cell phone photo, so the edge highlights, washes, and drybrushing are of course totally not visible. Tonight I'll get the tracks done and seal the chassis. If I'm lucky, I'll be able to get the turret completed, too.

And what will you do with said tank after finishing it?

Neither of us have any go to 15mm skirmish rulesets we know very well...

The werewolves are new. They just got released in December. This month they're releasing mono-wheel mini-tanks for the Khanate.

I finished up another Duxis battlesuit for my Prydians. This is a swordsman variant. I don't know what I was going for with the shield. Just trying freehand, I guess.

Following that, I finished my Astagar tank from Critical Mass.

Not sure why snakemen would use a regular tracked tank, but there we are. Not that I actually own any Astagar. This baby is going to whoever I may be using at any given time. It's a pretty chunky tank, too. I love its overall design and I kind of wish I could get at least one more. Critical Mass closed shop pretty much after the Astagar Kickstarter delivered and now Ral Partha Europe owns the whole line. So far, they haven't made most of the vehicles for sale, so I'm out of luck getting a second tank.

Not so exciting, but I got two more Beholders painted up on Saturday. My first experiment in making money off of them proved successful, so I'm going to try again. As I said, I painted these on Saturday, the day I got them. This is the result of an afternoon's work.

Also painted Saturday night, a Mantic Marauder Ripper suit. This is a Deadzone 1.0 model, so I've had him awaiting paint for a long time. It's about time I finished him.

Where's Radgrad? You said you were painting him.

Beholders look good. I say cut out the middle man and try selling one yourself. Or get more and sell them yourself.

Radgrad is being worked on. I applied the wash for his base coat last night. I didn't do much painting yesterday though. I mostly just worked on a Primaris Marine. I did prime the other aripper suit Marauder, too. So, I'll be working on that guy as well. I'll probably dedicate more time to Radhrad tonight.

Nice turnaround on the Beholders. Very impressive. The landmates made my morning.

I finally got Chief Radgrad finished. He might be a bit underwhelming, visually, but that's fine by me. I'm just glad to have him finished.

Dude is solid metal, in a running pose, and has no tab to fix him to his base. Mantic needs to stop doing that. They did it with Hund and it sucked for him, too. Radgrad was worse though because he had a habit of exploding on me. Parts were constantly falling off. There were some casting issues, too. Most of the attachment points just didn't fit together right. You'll also notice that big ass seam running down his leg. These casting issues seemed to have plagued most of my Deadzone 1.0 metals in one way or another. Thank God the metals I've purchased since from them haven't had these problems. Radgrad could really use a new plastic sculpt.

Also completed was my second Proteus combat mech from White Dragon Miniatures. This one is armed with a battle cannon and honestly, I think it would look better on the body of the minigun variant. Still, a cool mech and I don't mind having more giant robots.

You should do a size comparison with the White Dragon mech and some 15mm guys. I couldn't get a good idea of how big it was when it was in the baggy.

Different loadout and no radar, but the minigun type is the exact same size as the cannon type.

No, that's from Conflict Horizon, which is a small one man operation, though he does have several designs by John Bear Ross, the guy who designed my Astagar tank. I'll actually be working on another of their mechs next.
