Aloha Battlebrothers,

yesterday I talked with my mate about armour saves of characters and I asked myself:
The rules states that an Weapon, which has an magical effect, loses its "normale" rule.

And though...when I have a magic HW and a normal shield - do i get the +1 armoursave in CC for fighting with HW and shield?

The same thing: Do I get the +1 in CC, when i've got a magic shield and a normal HW?
And: Do I get the +1 in CC, when ive got a magic shield and a magic HW?

Basically,

Normal HW+Shield= +2 to sv in cc.
Magic weapon+Shield= +1 to sv in cc.
Normal HW+Magic Shield= +2 to sv in cc

Having a magical weapon makes your save worse than a normal weapon?

Yep.

Pg 121 of the BRB:
'Magic weapons always ignore any special rules that apply to an ordinary weapon of the same type unless otherwise specified in the description of the item.'

That means no HW+shield bonus and no fighting with two hand weapons.

Yup, unless you have a magic weapon that says "Counts as a hand weapon," you do not get the parry bonus in close combat, as it loses any special rules related to mundane weapons of the same type.

Magic weapons in Warhammer are jealous, powerful things. They refuse to let you use other weapons (except for Brettonians using their lances on the charge), and they don’t like being used to parry, evidently.

In 6th ed you also didn’t get the extra bonus with a magical shield, but they removed that restriction in 7th. This makes the Enchanted Shield a particularly nice piece of kit for a character on foot.

This is sort of counter intuitive, as this would mean that a magic shield is, in effect, useless, unless your weapon is magical too. At the same time, I can't recall any rules about the shield losing its normal properties by being made magical, only weapons.

I believe it would be as follows (in close combat):
Mundane HW + Mundane Shield = +2
Mundane HW + Magic Shield = +3
Magic Weapon + Mundane Shield = +1
Magic Weapon + Magic Shield = +2

Malecus, I believe you are thinking Enchanted Shield, which gives a 2+. Other magic shield only give a 1+. So, Mekboy is right, using the general term of magic shield. Your examples are correct only if you are using the Enchanted Shield, or any other shield that gives a 2+ which I am unfamiliar with.

In the WoC army book, the magic shields (not common items) say in their first line "Shield." followed by what it does...

Exp:

Runeshield:
"Shield. blah blah blah your magic weapons don't do diddily."

this would lead me to think it would work with a hand weapon for +2 to armor save, while enchanted shields are more for those who want +armor and also already have a magic weapon.

Rated G, you are correct. Teaches me to post while distracted by work. Not that I'll stop, just that I'll pay more attention to what I'm posting.

Didn't a FaQ say that you get the parry bonus for hand weapon and enchanted shield? (i.e. +3 in cc)

If I use -><- I'm not mocking you, it's a reflex from using the " silly" icon on every other forum.
However, if I use this -><- I might just mock you.

Which was what I was getting at, but I was mixing up the terms of "enchanted shield" and magic shield. Mekboy was correct in stating that a mundane hand weapon and a magical shield will give a +2 to your cc save. Using an enchanted shield does indeed bump that up to a +3.
