Hey guys, I've been a long time 40k player, havent played 5th edition yet, stoped playing at the end of 4th cause my assault based marine army was getting boring ( either avalanche wins or loses). Now with the new editon, and the AOBR box sets, i have collected a decent amount of ORKS, not marines, they are gone to the wreckers (AKA various friends). Anyways, as i said, i havent played 5th edition yet, so i dont know whats up. P.S., i have the rule book and codex for orks.

1) I have been reading a while, and i dont understand whats up with the new wound placement system, can someone give me an example compared to the old way?

2) Can someone help me make a list out of these figures? 1500 if posible, 1000 if not.

2 AOBR war bosses

10 AOBR Nobs

50 Slugga boys, 4 big shootas, 1 PK (50 models total, not 55)

6 death kopta's

3 zzap Big Guns

I plan of making whatever vehicles I need, would prefer a more moble style army (lots of trucks, maybe a biker boss)

Thanks for the help

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Howdy, and welcome to 5th edition.

My Ork army started as 4 AoBR boxes. I bought two, and traded the marines inside for Orks in two others.

Wound allocation: Defenders assign wounds, and each wound group must spread wounds equally. If I have a group of 10 nobs, and all 10 nobs are equipped differently, I have 10 wound groups. If you do 10 wounds to me, I must assign those 10 wounds equally amongst my wound groups. That means that every nob gets 1 wound. Thus, even if I fail all 10 wounds, you didn't kill anyone, you just wounded all my nobs.

As for your list, let me tell you this: I've typed pages and pages in other peoples' Ork army list threads, and I play mobile orks. Instead of me typing all that again here, check out the first two pages of the Army list section here and read some of what I wrote. It applies to you and will explain tactically why what I'm writing here works. You're going to have to shuck out for a couple of trukks, and do some proxying until you have real models, but that's ok.

HQ1: Warboss, Powerklaw, 'Eavy Armor (90 points)
HQ2: (Proxied) Ghazghkull Thraka (225 points)

Troop 1: 10 AoBR Nobs (troop choice because of your warboss) equipped as follows: (451 points)
1. Painboy
2. Bosspole
3. Waaugh! Banner
4. Powerklaw
5. Powerklaw, Ammo Runt
6. Powerklaw, Kombi-Skorcha
7. Big Choppa
8. Big Choppa, Ammo Runt
9. Big Choppa, Kombi-Skorcha
10. Normal Nob

'Eavy Armor on everyone
Trukk, Red Paint, Reinforced Ram (Ghazghkull is inside with the nobs)

Troop 2: 12 Boyz inside a trukk with Red Paint and Reinforced Ram; Nob with a powerklaw (152 points)
Troop 3: Same (152 points)
Troop 4: Same )152 points)
Troop 5: Same (152 points)

Fast attack 1: 3 Deff Koptas (TL Rokkits) (135 points)
Fast attack 2: 3 Deff Koptas (TL Rokkits) (135 points)

That's about the max points that you can make with what you've got - comes out to 1644 points. If you added in a few points (Buzz saw on a couple of Deff Koptas) you could get 1750 points. If you want to kick it down to 1500 points, drop the warboss and it takes you down to 1554; you can combine two boy squads, drop a nob with a PK to get a foot-slogging unit....there's a lot of proxying to be done regardless. =p

Hrm...

If they don't allow special characters, then I presume they're not a GW sanctioned store? If they're going to pick and choose which GW rules they want to follow, I hope they don't use GW prize support. I'd find another store to be honest.

Actually it is a GW sanctioned store, but we just have house rules for our in house tournaments, this is just a fun tournament, and the prizes are gift certificates. And my uncle owns the store so i wont be finding another one... also the only store in St.Catharines

O H I am in the Webway...

Ouch that sucks that you can't use Gazzy. Dash suggested a pretty solid list there. My only suggestion would be to get a KFF Mech instead of Gazzy and then swap some trukks for BW's or just add more trukk boys with the extra points from dropping Gaz.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you
