I haven't got the my boyz yet but have started with the Warboss Painted it and then started assemblind the nobz.
To mix it up I go over to another miniature so whilst doing my nobz I am assembling the Deffkoptas.
When it comes to the boyz I will do them in bunches of 10s paint all the skin for a few layers, go away and watch a bit of family guy or American dad then finish the skin off. Go away and assemble something else or have a quick paint on a different model.
The key is as you have been doing in mixing it up, but with boyz it will be easier to try and paint more in one go.

I have 100+ AoBR Boyz and I am on batch 4 #35 (or so) so I can feel your pain. For me, it is simply a matter of acceptance. Heck, by the tenth model I was sick and tired of the shape and lack of detail (compared to regular boyz) of this model but I tried to turn it around by accepting that it's just gonna take a while and using the repetitiveness to try out new things, schemes, colors and hone my style (or lack there of). In all fairness I am trying to make every model in my force look good so its a slow process. I do them in batches of seven now as this size seems to work best for me. Again, if you're looking for just speed there is probably something in the tutorials thread to help you along. If not, accept your fate! and good luck!

I am hating the prospect of removing the mould lines more than painting them :(

Public Service Announcement: I am trading for AOBR Orks, so if you have too many, let me know.
Anyway, on to the advice. Just make sure you paint one every day. I mean start to finish. If you do so, you'll be done in about a month or so. It is surprising how fast time will pass, and then, how many Orks you finish.
I tend to paint all the Ork Eyes first (red for me) then all the Ork Skin next. For some reason, once the Ork Skin is done, the Orks demand to be finished from the painting table!
Yes, definitely paint in batches. And keep the batches small. There's nothing more depressing than seeing 30 models on the table, all unpainted, and maybe 2 painted. So what do I do? I hide the rest! Then I start thinking, "Oh, joy, I only see three models on the table, I will have them painted in no time!"
Another hint: music! My gosh, put on some cool and inspiring music while you paint. TV can work, but when else will you have a chance to listen to your favorite albums?
My final advice: paint with friends. Have a party with chips and soda. Invite the people you play with. You don't always get as much painting done at these affairs, but it is always more fun! And you will be motivated to show off your work each week, so it actually makes you paint more in your free time as well!

Let me address that first line. What?!? Blasphemy! There is no such thing as too many boyz!!!
As for the rest? Lots of great advice in here. I actually put away all of my primered models as well. Seeing all of them together gets me down.
Sorry about your (athba) bad mold lines.

Must be an over the pond thing. My boyz werent bad at all, mold line wise.
What Im doing is priming them all, then usually 6 at a time, paint the skin, then the guns, then the cloths &detail. Its grinding at its worst but really, you gotta do it. To break it up after a few sets, Ill paint a nob super pretty.

I take the opposite approach. Painting is a chore I endure (I've painted at least 15 armies over the years, so It's not a chore I avoid). For big armies like Orks, I love the idea of finishing a huge Mob all at once. So, I take 10, 20, even 30 models and accomplish one thing at a time. All the mold lines, all the priming, all the boots (somehow that helps, boots are easy and quick, I get some paint on every model, so I feel committed, and I like literally starting from the bottom up), the skin, the pants, etc… Yup, it’s not a party; yup, it is boring; yup, it is a chore. But, it’s not so bad to stick with each stage to the end, and when spread out over 20 models, it gets a lot done. And, when the last one is done, I have a fully painted big Mob. To mix things up, I paint a character or a Nob on the side, or maybe paint a vehicle.

Very nicely put I agree only on the basis that I dont think an ork looks good in anything but bad moon yellow or evil sunz red
I would agree with the general style of painting though, work on assembly lines. I generally go, skin, trousers, shirt, metal parts then apply my wash over what needs it. Gets em painted quickly and is definatly battle ready at that point

I love Chrispy's orks! You can always paint them in darker colors (sticking to browns for the clothing) if you don't like bright and festive orks
You can certainly apply the same speed-painting techniques, though!

Not bad. I Black prime, then block in the colors like this, and then DIP. Cheaper, faster, darker, dirtier, and it simultaneously gives them a hard coat that is also a matt coat. More fun, too.

@ Kingcracker: I have to disagree about the mold line issue being an "over the pond thing",I have 60 AoBr boyz,10 nobz & Warbosses (do alot of chop & swap with "standard" boyz & Nobz just to break up the static look of the AoBr minis),and the AoBr minis had some of the worst mold lines I've ever seen.
Anyway, more OT,I find it easiest to batch paint when it comes to boyz, batches of 10 are best for me,basicly I just go step by step,do all the skin on all 10,go back,do all the clothes,go back etc etc,it's tedious as all hell, but such is the price for choosing to play orkz.
Usualy after I complette 30 boyz I'll "treat" myself with a Battle Wagon,Dread or such, like the 2nd Big Mek I'm working on now.
Just stick with it,it'll take a while and possible drive you crazy in the process, but it's worth it,and BTW I agree,Orkz should be dark & dirty,it's only proper.

Due to the way I've got my Mob organized, I tend to work in small batches - I'll paint two or three nobs first (different units) to try the look I want - and I've usually got a couple other projects laying about as well (right now its two of the AOBR defkopta's). Once I like where the colors are going, I'll batch paint the boys - trying to keep a non conformist conformity to them.

What really helped me was that I focused on one model for about 4-6 hours, adding different colors and details that I thought that would look good on him and the color scheme I wanted. Then for the rest of my 59 boyz I based their coloring of that one model, including the minute details (such as camo for my Blood Axes) so I didn't have to worry about what I wanted each boy to have or if I missed anything important. But like what everyone here is saying here is you really have to sit down and power through it not so much as how fast you can paint, but how many you can get done before your hand starts to cramp up or you feel tired.... But when its all said and done and you finally deeply your horde of Boyz, its really satisfying .
