Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

So 'Ard Boyz is July 11th, but all the stores in North Carolina (and I've called hours away) seem to be doing it on July 12th because there's a magic pre-release something going on that Saturday. Seriously, WTF.

Are they allowed to do that? I figured if it was an official GW event, they'd have to follow GW rules.

Yeah well, if their stores are like my local store...Magic brings in much more $ for them than than GW.

Can't blame them for catering to the company that brings in more grip.

Yeah our events have been scaled back for Magic events before. I feel your pain.

Well, while it may be an inconvenience, I believe that there isn't anything official stating that the tournament is to be held on the 11th or 12th, but instead is to be held on either (or both when space and/or hours are limited) days. A couple of locations here in the Atlanta area are holding their heat on the 12th from a convenience standpoint, as Sunday is their usual 40k day.

Seeing as only the criminally insane would participate in two separate events, there shouldn't be any advantage or disadvantage to playing on one day or the other. Just consider yourself lucky that you have one more day to tweak your list and practice.

Because Ard Boyz is free (almost no profit for them) and the Magic prerelease will probably make them a boatload of cash, you should be glad they are running it at all. Starting a "you must do this on 7/11" will just create a conflict between the two events, where the magic prerelease will probably win.

Sucks, and I feel for you, but probably nothing you can do, other than find the closest place hosting on 7/11.

Trying to enforce people only being able to play officially with little plastic men on one specific day would be going a bit far.

eat a cookie, and dont worry.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

I know of a couple of stores in the local area here in SoCal that are running it on Sunday as well since they want to run a tournament on the Magic Release date. Makes total sense to me as it will be a major influx of cash for those stores. I don't mind playing a different day if it helps my FLGS keep their doors open

Last year some stores in the VA/NC area ran it a whole week later.
I believe therre's a location in VA Beach that might not be too far for you, depends on where you are in NC.

Why would only the criminally insane participate on both days?

You missed one store in NC apparently.

The Hobbit in Fayetteville (@ 1 to 1 1/2 hours away) is running the event on the scheduled day.

We don't have card players, so Magic is not a concern.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.
