Kult of Speed -- 1000pt List -- Brilliantly Insane Leadership

After lurking here for long enough I've decided to join the Horde.

My goal is to build a somewhat fluffy, but mainly stompy kult of speed list, led by a wierdboy (So much conversion fun with that model)

But I need opinions and corrections from those with more experience with the new dex.

Hur goes:
Note: I dont have the dex, so there will be point value mistakes

HQ
Weirdboy - 85
w/rerolled pyschic ability

Troop
1 - Wierdboy Groupies -- 111
1xnob w/ PK & bosspole
5 x Choppa boyz
+ Truk with HShoota

2 - Da Mob -- 166
1xnob w/ PK & bosspole
19x choppa boys

3 - Riderz - 510
1 x Nob w/ PK, Cyork body, bosspole, combi Skorcha
1 x nob biker w/ PK & combi Skorcha, Cyork body
5 x nob bikers w/ combi Skorcha,Cyork body
1 x Painboy W/ urty syringe, cyork body

Heavy Support
Battlewagon - 125
W/ deffrolla, heavy shoota, ex armor


Tactics
-Wierd Boy mounted in truck
-the mob mounted in the battlewagon

All ahead full into the enemy lines with the battle wagon in front and the truck and bikerz using it for a moving shield.

Concerns:
- NO longe range tank busting ability
- Low number of units
- Apart from the PKs and combi Skorchas, I have no special weapons

Questions:
- Should I reduce the number of biker nobs and add a warboss mounted on a bike?
- Should I split up the large Choppa mob, and put them in trucks?

Fun list, cool to hear you've converted your own model. A few thoughts...

--> 5 boyz and a Nob is kinda in effective... loose two models (easy to do for orks) and you need to take a leadership test... use your boss pole and you've got 2guys left in the squad.
--> I would suggest maxing out your trukk squad, also seeing as trukks are open topped consider adding some shootiness to the boyz inside.

--> Potentially, you could put your weirdboy on foot with a bunch of boys (use the points saved on the trukk for boyz)... more chance to benefit from the deepstrike ability or the waaagh ability as well as the shooty ones.
--> warphead (reroll psychic ability) means you don't need to stress about rolling an 'eadbanger and killing yourself and the unit

--> Extra armour on a wagon doesn't seem so fantastic when it's still open top... use the points for more big shootas
--> Seeing as its open top chuck a few guns in with the squad.

--> your Nob biker squad is incredibly fearsome! Grats. However, It's half your army. it seems a bit much for a 1000 point list. Consider putting them in a trukk instead, you'll save about 100 points
--> put the saved 100 points towards some deffkoptas with twin-linked rokkit launchas, that will solve your first concern

--> Your second question is a good one. It depends upon which mission you roll. In annihilation, your wagon is going to get your boyz into combat unscathed whilst shooting alot --> in other words, its pretty killy.
--> However, when claiming objectives having all your boyz in one ride limits your abilty to capture points. Putting them in two trukks would most likely solve this.

--> Lastly, without a warboss, your nobz don't count as a troop choice meaning they can't score objectives --> reluctant to advocate for anything else though, seeing as you've converted your weirdboy model yourself
--> as an alternative to taking a weirdboy you could throw a warboss in a trukk or on a bike with your nobz making them killier and counting them as a scoring unit meaning the can cap objectives too.

sry guys about the min squad # point, I only have the dex when I'm in the store.


So I guess I wont be converting the deffkoptas into nob bikers as they take up so many points.
I just read so many threads about nob biker armies that Id thought i base one around that theme with some mounted troops to cover my bases.


The big goal of this army list is mounted army that charges across and gets right into it. (my space marine army is WAY shooty)
I suppose i could convert the wierdboy into a warboss and ride him in a truck with the knobs, and keep the deffkoptas in the list (I have such a stigma against SM speeders it transferred to anything that lacks wheels.)

Quick Q: If the wierdboy rolls the teleport ability while in the truck.....does the truck and compatriots come with him???

What about running 2 x 20 fig boyz units in battle wagons?
1 x 20 choppa boyz
1 x 20 shoota boyz
??

I tend to have bad rolls (consistently) so only having 2 main aggressive threats in my army could cause problems.
having 4 groups of 10-12 models would make me feel less vulnerable to my old pal murphey

Nob bikers are pretty butt-kicking, but you can't make a nob biker army in 1000 points.

Aside from that, I'll tell you this:

Orks can do anything that any other army can do and do it better than they can. However, they cannot do everything that any other army can do. Make sense? If you make an ork assault army, they'll out-assault any other army in 40k. If you make a shooting army, you can outgun IG or Tau. If you go foot-slogging, or mechanized, or kan-wall....all those options make you a completely awesome army, but there's a catch. You can only do one of them at a time with an army list.

If you combine a mechanized and a foot-slogging list, you're going to lose. If you have part assault, party shooting, you're probably going to lose. Your strength is in being able to pick something and be completely awesome at it. So before giving you advice on where to go next with your army, you need to pick a theme and build around it. If you want a bike army, or a shooting army; an outflanking army, mechanized, assault, figure out what your playstyle is and start building your units and armylist around that idea.

THAT is the strength of Orks.

When you decide what you want your army list to be, start by explaining what your intent is, then post an army list along those lines and we'll work from there and make suggestions.

What I want to do:
kareen across the board and stomp things in their soft n squishy bits

So I'm thinking biker nobz and everything else mounted in Trucks.

Model Wise I have (through a trade):
- 1 battlewagon
- 20 x Choppa Boyz
- 5 nobs
- 3x Deffkoptas
- Wierdboy


I'll probably take the original list posted (above) and spit up the boyz unit into 2 x 10 man squads mounted in the wagon

Can you get another trukk? Personally, I favor nobs in trukks over nobs on bikes. 25 extra points to get toughness 4(5) instead of toughness 4 isn't worth 25 points per model. Everything else that bikes can do, I can pretty much replicate with nobs in a trukk for free.

Especially since you can add a 5+ invun. for 5 points by cyborking them (although I know that DoP is no great fan of cyborking Nobs).

I'm not a fan of cyborking nobs either; I play my orks tactically and my nobs rarely run into situations where they would need a 5+ invulnerable.
