Dammit. Having seen the rather spanky new Empire Bowmen, I am now well up for playing me a crapload of Mordheim. Box of Empire Infantry and the Bowmen, I ought to have a pretty damned tasty Warband and lots of models for expansion of said Warband.
Thankfully, I reckon I can convince some of the guys at the Hydra Games Club (Wednesdays, Robin Hood Pub, Tunbridge Wells) to sort themselves out in a similar manner and get this going.
But how do you guys feel about the smaller scale GW Games, Necromunda/GorkaMorka (if you treat GM as being a vehicle based expansion for Necro) and Mordheim? I think I will always have a soft spot for these bad boys, mainy due to a great many happy memories of crushinh my enemies, seeing them driven before me and hearing the lamentation of their wimmin. And even a few of watching some cheeky new player kick the living poo out of my supposedly rock-hard Warband.
Is there much in the way of fan made stuff for Mordheim? Reccomend sites please!
And finally, I wish GW would grow some balls and just publish expansion books for the main games dealing with Skirmish stuff properly. I only say this because not all the races out there actually have a Skirmish type force which works (Dark Elf one is particularly rubbish!)

Check out the Skirmish forum, I know there were several discussions re: Mordheim (if you haven't already, and lordy knows that forum could use some more traffic).
There was a thread which pointed to a website that had all of the Town Cryers and other supplements for download.
I love Mordheim, but our group found that the more stuff GW put out for the game (dwarves, orks, etc.) the more unbalanced it became. We were. after several campaigns, going to go back to the basic rulebook. I'd also be careful with fan-made stuff, as unforseen problems can crop up halfway through a season, and all of a sudden, no one plays anymore.
I agree with you about the new archers, and can't wait to get a box...

At our local store we broke out the Legends of the Old West Warhammer Historical game again for the summer. It's a great game that gives the feel of the old west. On the other hand, last year we tried the Legends of the High Seas game and it's not recommended. The ship to ship combat portion is terrible, and there isn't a good variety of army types like their is with the Old West game.

A good site for Mordheim is http://boringmordheimforum.forumieren.com/index.htm
it has most options covered and even huge selection of links for warbands etc, and in the scenery section the pdf printouts for the buildings which came came in the box set if you want to print them out on foamcard for quick terrain.

Nice plug MDG
As Princeps of said aforementioned gaming body, I can confirm that I may be interested in Mordheiming it up. Or possibly some kind of border patrol / escalation / campaign.

I don't play the specialist games (apart from Apocalypse, and then rarely), but I do love a good session of Dark Heresy. We have such great adventures. In the last session, my psyker's head exploded and his flaming headless body ran around like a chicken, setting fire to the Techpriest and Stormtrooper.
Needless to say, I don't play as psykers anymore.

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made. |

Some of GW's best rules are in their specialist games line. In my area, there is at least one Bloodbowl League a year, and usually at least one (basic rules only!)Mordheim campaign about 6 weeks long. BFG is brought out a couple of times a year, and consistently attracts new players. I think Warmaster is probably GW's best-written rules set ever. Legends of the High Seas it the perfect blend of LotR skirmish and Mordheim campaign.
I wonder if the rumored special new stuff GW is teasing the crowd with could be a re-release of Man O' War? We had fun with that many years ago, but now lots of folks have invested in Uncharted Seas.

He's got a mind like a steel trap. By which I mean it can only hold one idea at a time;
it latches on to the first idea to come along, good or bad; and it takes strenuous effort with a crowbar to make it let go.

Well, having had a storming 4 days at work (around £600 in takings!) I treated meself to the Archers set, and a box of Empire Infantry, so my Warband is pretty much sorted innit.
Little surprised to be paying £15 for the Archers, but meh, I chose to pay it.
And for all those who are wondering, Fitzeh is in fact not Princeps. He is actually Princess Meganob, and I highly reccomend spreading this semi-slanderous monicker about the Internets. That'll learn him!
