Two questions about tank bustas...

1. A bomb squig can be released to make a suicide run into any tank within 18", and causes STR8 hit. This doesn't need to roll to hit does it? Its neither a shooting attack nor an assault really, its a different attack all together.

2. A tank busta has either a rokkit laucha and a tank bomb, or a tank hammer and a tank bomb. Tank bomb is STR6+2D6, and a Tank hammer is STR10. If I have a squad of 15 boyz run into a land raider that has moved 12" and assault it, do both the bombs and the close combat attacks need 6s to hit? I've never used tank bombs / krak grenades before. Do they get treated as a shooting attack because I'm throwing them? Close combat? Something else?

1) that is correct. It is an auto hit that is not a shooting attack. No cover saves apply (remember you can sometimes hit your own vehicles!)

2) Grenades will need 6s to hit in this situation. So will the tank hammers. Modes with grenades make one attack each (no bonus at all for charging or 2 weapons). The tank hammer guys make as many swings as they can normally + charge bonus.
Resolve tank hammer hits, then resolve grenade hits (doesn't have to be this order, just out of conveinence). for each Tank busta bomb hit you you roll 2d6 and add 6. If you equal the armor you glance, if you exceed the armor you pen.

Hope that helps

1. iirc, you just need to roll a 2+ for the bomb squig to go, with it attacking the nearest ork vehicle on a 1.

2. You need to roll to hit with grenades, but you only get one attack per model. Tankhammer would get full attacks (2+1 for charge, and I don't think they have 2 CCWs for a bonus).

In the dark future, there are skulls for everyone. But only the bad guys get spikes. And rivets for all, apparently welding was lost in the Dark Age of Technology. -from C.Borer

Let me know how the work for you. When the codex first came out, they seemed like junk. With the current metagame, they seem a lot better. The S10 tankhammers (with maybe a Nob w PK) is also a nice way to handle MCs.
