im kicking around the idea of making a traitor guard force dedicated to nurgle. im looking for input on what you would think would appear in the force. here is what i have already:

1 commander with powerfist (the herald from the mamon FW demon prince)

40 zombies (making these into conscirpts, and using chenkov to make them "come back" from the dead)

1 executioner

im not really gonna buy this all at once, more like do a unit then move on, lots of flavor. im not really looking for tabletop success, just a good looking fluffy nurgle guard force.

opinions?

The banewolf seem appropriate... spraying a fine gloppy nurgly mist instead of chemicals.

I think penal legionaries and veterans stand in as traitors pretty well. So having some of those as troops seem appropriate.

Of all the elite choices, I think Ogryn are probably the only nurgle appropriate choices. Ratlings maybe with the whole sewer mutant slant someone else once mentioned.

i was thinking of nurglings with sniper rifles as ratlings. ogryn are definatly in.

im also going to do a squad of rough riders, i have a load of the new WHFB knight horses to use.

Rough Riders are so bad. If you HAVE to have them then ok but they are truly horrid.

I think that conscripts are great zombies. Having leman russ executioners (the 5 plasma one) is a great addition along with banewolfs. As long as its nasty and rusted it works. Ogryns are again, a bad unit, but they are a great nurgle unit so take one squad. PBS and Primeris Psychers are a MUST. No doubt. Snipers - no. I think that Leman Russes are great Nurgle tanks due to their lumbering behemoth being kind a nurgly... aka. slow and steady and tough.

Take some SoB or Grey Knight inducted and call them either - renegade chaos / chaos champions. Since most CSM who go Legion of the Damned are truely not as good as normal CSM *they weren't good enough for the Legions and all they want to do is boss people around, SoB are a good unit representing them being weaker, the problem here is their T3 is kinda not nurgly. Ministorium Priests are a great as Chaos Preachers. Penal Legion represents the mutated.

You can go CRAZY with LatD truthfully. You could have your guys shooting "rot guns" etc. and have your penal legionnaires being mutated / tainted by chaos. Special weapons guys can just have big mutations that function as said gun.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you
