Hey Guys,

Many people, including myself, have been advocating the use of an Inquisitor with 2 mystics as opposed to an Officer of the Fleet (vs Deep Strikers). Which codex; Witch Hunters or Daemonhunters et al, does this come from and what are their stats/rules. I know how the mystics work but not the Inquisitor's rules or either of their stat lines

Daemonhunters. If you're going to do this though, be aware of two things

1: Keep the Inquisitor cheap - they die easily.

2: This strategy will either a) not be around for long because GW will finally either sort out Inquisition or officially Squat them or b) be around for ever because GW will never make its mind up.

I vote b

While you sleep, they'll be waiting...

Have you thought about the Axis of Evil pension scheme?

I second that vote. Thanks

Yeah, I use one in my Daemonhunters army.

Had moderate success at a tourney with them, too.

Inq lord, 2 mystics and 3 heavy weapon servitors - 1 plasma - in cover with a dread nearby ( within 12"). Prevented most players from attempting to DS too close to them. Lord had a null rod, too (just for those errant lash princes).

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

the IQ statline is WS4 BS4 S3 T3 W2 I4 A2 LD8 Sv4+

He also counts as a psyker reguardless of whether or not you actually give him a psychic power (facepalm).

He may also be accompanied by 0-6 henchmen.

IMO if the cost of the IQ/2xMystic exceeded 35 points it wouldn't be worth it to include in most IG lists. I've been toying with turning the unit into a little flamer heavy anti-infantry unit so it isn't completely useless against armies that don't deepstrike. Given how strong the 4x flamer PCS is working out to be, it seems like a decent option.

is the cost exactly 55? What are his/his hechmen's equipment (BPs? etc) + henchmen stats. I should probably just go to my LGWS and like take a photo of the entry but...yeah. Sorry to an DH players who feel like they're being used

If you want to keep it dirt cheap you can take the elite Inquisitor choice for 20 then 2 mystics for a total of 32 points.

I like my inquisitor with psycanon/tarrot, 2 mystics, sage, and 3 heavy bolter servitors... it puts out a lot of firepower and helps vs DSing units

Minus the sage and maybe 1 HB this is how I would run mine. In my DW I will probably get one of these and give his rhino to the PAGK I want to take.

He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster and if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you

apparently warriors with PGs are pretty good (esp for their points)

PGs are only 10pts for warrior henchmen, which is nice. The henchman himself if 10pts though, so you're paying 20pts per plasma gun.

I've been fooling with running the IQ with an Incinerator and then 3 warriors with Flamers in my list lately. It is basically a PCS with 3x flamer and an uber heavy flamer at that point (though it is a whole lot more expensive than a PCS :( ).

Do you really want your Anti-DS trick on the front line within charge range? If not, why give them flamers, like.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can.

Yes because generally against armies the flamers are stellar against there are no deepstrikers. Against anything with deepstrikers he'll be near the front in his Valk to provide the largerst buffer zone possible anyway and once the deepstrikers fall, 4 flamer templates does damage to just about anything that isn't a vehicle. Basically it allows the IQ to not be a complete waste in games where there are no deepstrikers (or in games where the deepstrikers are inconsequential).

Go buy the codex.

Just because anyone agrees with anyone, doesn't mean they are correct. Beware the thin line between what is "Correct" and what is "Popular."

Drop Trooper with Demo Charge

He takes 1 Elite choice, costs 32 points (with 2 mystics included) and gives every Deepstriker a second thought. Every unit that DS's, the Inquisitor gets to roll to find out if he can "see" them. If he can, then (with 2 mystics) a unit within 12 inches can fire at them as if the unit was still. More then once has a melta Dread, or a 10 man Terminator unit scattered in too close and suddenly found itself under heavy Executioner fire.

32 points pays for itself when you need it, yet is cheep enough when facing an army without DS you don't rue the points spent on a "useless" unit. After the first Terminator unit, or Daemon horde that you blow to pieces on HIS turn you'll be hooked. (Then you get to shoot at them in YOUR turn, muhahahaha)
