ok so i am starting up an Ork army but im not exactly sure of what i want to do with it.. aiming to build a 1500 pointer btw

I was thinking of LOTS of boyz with shoota's (original i know)
Lootaz for laying down some ranged coverfire so my boyz can get into Close Combat
2 Big Meks with KFF and possibly one with a SaG (havnt thought much about the SaG, underrated?)

I was thinking of how i could get some strong Tank defence in..
Kommando squad with 2 rokkits i could set up with infiltrate?
If i can deep strike zagtrukk and the vulcha boyz behind a tank it might give me a chance to tear the ass of the tank open with zagtrukk and if that doesnt go so well stormboyz seem like fun anyway lol

Im not to into a mek army personally and i havnt thought much about a speed freaks army...

any tips or suggestions are more than welcome i know i could use the help

most of your list is good, if not truly original(but its been tried and tested and it works)

for anti tank units i have had the most success with deffcoptaz with TL rokkits and buzzsaws

Your only effective vehicle defence with Orks is to take lots of PKs and get them into CC.

Zags could work, the only problem with it is that he might land on the tank and die lol. Also, blowing up the tank will be the only exciting thing he does the entire game, as he is kind of a one-trick pony.

Hmm whats a good way to get a bunch of PKs up close quikly? (and effectivly lol)
Maybe i should just invest in some Tank Bustaz but im afraid they would be to much of a target if they were my only anti vehicle...
The zagstrukk thing just sounded like a fun way to surprise people, even if he doesnt kill the tank as intended i would at the very least have a potent force of stormboyz on the opposing field lol

A good way to get a bunch of PK's close quick is a Nobz mob in a Battle wagon or trukk(I prefer Battle wagons),of course this isn't a "sure fire" tank killing ploy.

hmmm do orks need a wagon or some kind of transport to function well? i was hoping to minimize the number of vehicles to maximize my troops...

Oh and ive been seeing people talking about using "Looted" Basilisks and Lemun Russ's in thier ork army, is that really legal? im still VERY new to orks lol

btw how do you guys feel about the SaG? Ive been looking more at it and it would be GREAT to be able to pound some ordinance onto the feild but at the same time im worried that i will always roll double 1's and take out half of my own army on the first turn

I agree that deathkoptas with rokkits and buzzsaws are ace. If you get the first turn, scout them, move them , shoot them and then assault the pesky tanks with them. It is possible to get a first turn assault with koptas. I usually use 3 single fast attack choice koptas.

You used to be able to take looted leman russ in 3e I believe, but I didn't start playing until 4th, and you can only have the looted wagon that they have described in the new ork codex.

I love the SAG personally, and statistically you'll only roll snake eyes 1 out of every 36 times, probably equates to once every six games you play with him. The SAG is great, has the capacity to destroy nearly anything it can hit. I always use him when I have room for him with one of my HQ slots. Of course theres the random factor, but he wouldn't be an ork without that!

Go to the army list section of the board and read some of the ork army lists and critiques. At this particular moment in time, most of the first page is owned by ork army lists due to strategic posting. =p
