I was assembling my valkyrie (as one does).

When I got to the swing mounts for the heavy bolters, I noticed that the cradles for the guns would fit two old metal assault cannon/multilasers from the 2nd ed METAL sentinel quite nicely instead. Don't get me wrong, but what gamer doesn't prefer rotary cannons over machineguns? This would also free up two heavy bolters for my club necromunda conversions.

This model will NEVER be used in a regular 40k game, so WYSIWYG is irrelevant there. I might drag it out in an apoc game (with an altered cost) as a Vanaheim pattern AS-1X (for attack skimmer) Valkyrie where the assault cannons will be as is. The model itself will join my lit-up monolith and carnifex in the cool SF models collection in my display cabinet mainly.
Further to this, the multilaser is also nose mounted (not side mounted) in the style of the A-10 (big rotary gun up front) as I intend to sharkgrin the nose.

Does anyone else think it would be a cool looking gunship mod?

Probably somewhere I shouldn't be

It does sound cool, and I have to second the chin-mounting of the weapons - it's what I intend to to with my Vendetta conversion - the cheek mounting just seems a bit too impractical to me - ok for air-to-air I suppose, but against ground targets?

No it sounds terrible.

But I'll be kind and take it off your hands for $5

Pics will go up when the weather improves and I can take some (currently overcast and crappy. I like natural light for photography. It's what I was taught. )

@KK: Not for less than $50 (aus). Just never seen anyone else contemplate this mod is all.

Nothing wrong with chin and cheek mounting

I see lascannon being as being not particularly fast firing and hence clustering them around the cockpit would reduce spread and gives the pilot the best chance of a first-shot kill.

Also everyone knows that Valkyries have HB sponson mounts and that Guard don't get Assault CAnnon, so I would be surprised if anyone called you on WYSIWYG. My vendetta is glued shut, so no sponsons for me, however If I ever facy adding them I was thinking of mounting them on the now-unused wing pylons of my bird.

If I didn't want anyone 'stealing' the idea, I'd not have posted it.

Go for it.

WYSIWYG shouldn't be a problem, as it won't be used in games - like my light-up monolith (The only necron model I own).
