The other day me and another player were playing seize the ground (or whatever it's called). He was playing orks and decided to leave his grotz on his objective and a number of sad things happened that prove no one really cares for grotz. Firstly, he forgot they were there and thought he had nothing on his objective. THEN he knocked them over without realizing they were their and only realized they fell a few minutes later. Lastly, when he was packing up, he left the grotz there all together and didn't realize he didn't pack them up until the next time he came and the GW employee at the counter gave him the grotz he had kept safe since he knew they were his. Poor grotz. Anyone else able to think of sad thing that happened to grotz at your FLGS or gaming club?
That being said, I'm thinking of buying a pack of grotz.

My grots got kicked out of my army list. That's kind of sad?
Also, my kannons did great in one game, but I let a talos eat the crew. For tactics.

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it. |

A grot typically wishes he would be ignored. They tend to live longer that way.
That being said, quite often space marine scouts get left on the table. This really only happens if you are playing with well painted camo cloaks and they are hiding in a well modeled forest. Then they get a bit too good at hiding. I'm thinking of painting my camo cloaks orange, with reflective strips. Put some foil on their base as emergency blankets. Then model a crashed Land speader storm for an objective marker. Might be fun.

I agree. My grots got kicked out my Ork army. They don't even get to stay in same box as the Orks anymore. Automatically Appended Next Post: I was going to take them to grotz pound to put down but it wasn't worth the effort.

I always have fun with my Grotz. On the sad side though, the Grotz vs. 20 Berserkers comes to mind, but really the saddest thing I've seen so far was when I ran my Grot list and my unit of 6 Grotz who had lost their Runt Herd almost beat a full Tactical Squad with a Commander in assault. I was just like 'dang'.

A similar thing happened to my ratlings. They were new, and hence weren't painted yet, only undercoated white. We then decided to play on a snow-board at my local GW... you can see where this is going. They set up in a woods and promptly forgotten about. It was only the next day when i noticed a 5-space gap in my army case (Squad of 10, 2 ratlings per slot) they i realised. Mercifully, I went back the next day, and they were still there.
I mean, I know they're supposed to be stealthy snipers and all...
However, on the subjects of grots, i managed to kill Pedro Kantor with two squads of 10 grots. The Runtherds held him in place with the grabba sticks and the grots stabbed him in the eyes. Embarrassing.

I had a unit of 29 gretchin and two runt-herders sitting on an objective in cover. Abbadon + possessed marines jumped out of a land raider and assaulted them, and they killed Abbadon. True story.

You guys must giving you grotz some good stuff for them perform so well. My grotz must be undernourshed or the Runtherd isn't isn't giving them enough incentive. They have only ever killed a couple of SM in a whole game or get broken right away.

A: Grots with runtherd multi-charge my CCS (plasmas), PCS (Flamers which just wiped out a boyz mob), and 20-man guard squad with no upgrades. Grots kill 6 guards, guard stuff kills 5 grots. Guard all flee off the table.
B: next turn, one guard squad, with one flamer guy left, rallied last turn by the CCS, turns on the grots, toasts 11, routs them. they flee off the board. that one guardsman gives me a moral victory.

I collect:
Guard - 2k of mostly infantry
DA - 2k of deathwing, 2k of other bits (no vehicles)
Sisters - mostly converted/proxy because I'm waiting for therange to go plastic.
Tau - 2k with no riptides because I can. |

I played a game against a friend“s chaos SM army. I am used to using a HUGE grot-mob ( 30 gretchins, 3 runtherdz ). Well, first, they caused some shooting damage, then they got assaulted by a unit of demons and beat them in CC over the period of three turns.

I had a grot mob put down a CSM greater daemon. With shooting. Grots are a super specialized unit. What they are good at is being ignored, and they have a good points cost for this ability. This makes them ideal objective holders. Be sure to ridicule the opponent every time they "waste" a turn shooting at them. Its about the only way to deal with an opponent who figures out grots are good.
As for grots killing Abbadon, that makes me feel stupid. I had just managed to kill everthing in a CSM army by turn 3 with my DE, only Abbodon was left. Most of my transports were immobile or destroyed, so I was unable to stop the chain of assaults the ensued. Over 4 turns he killed everything in my army. With one wound remaining he made 13 invul saves, and I don't know how many armor saves.

It's always nice when fun things happen in game. Especially when they really 'shouldn't' by any definable logic. That's why my crappy old school Ork Trukk gets to stay around rather than being retired. Trukky ran over a Demon Prince all by himself.
