I just got my Captain Shrike model and I realised the backpack doesnt go on! On of his pauldrons is in the way so it won't go on straight. Any ideas?

I havnt put the Shrike together, but 2 things. If you put the shoulder pads on, either take the one off and adjust it so the back pack will fit. OR the second thing would be to shave down the part of the shoulder pad that is stopping it from going on right. Good luck

Ugh. I really don't want to file it down. it's a really neat looking pauldron. I wonder what GW was thinking when they designed it. Maybe Jump packs are supposed to me able to move aaround on the back a bit?

I get why you wouldnt want to shave it down, but if the pack is rubbing on part of the shoulder pad, then you wont see the part you file down, as it would be under the pack. But again, I havnt ever assembled Shrike so I dont really know if there is a trick to it lol

Mine fit ok as well. Make sure you are aligning it straight to Shrike's body, not the ground. Shrike is on a bit of an angle. IF you must, file off some of the jump pack.

If this is like some of the metal marines I have put together I would make sure the nipple on the back of shrike is clean and the hole in the backpack is correct and fits right as well. I have had issues where the backpack hit shoulder pads only to find the recess for the nipple in the backpack was off center or had slag in it causing it to not fit correctly.

I do what the voices in my wifes head say...

Good call, I hadnt thought of that one. I remember when I first got into buying 40k, there was still alot of things in metal. I had that problem alot. So much infact, from then on I would just slice off the nub, and pin the backpack on.

I had the same problem with my Jump Pack Chappy. I fixed it with a little green stuff to fill in the gaps and placed as flush as I could without compromising the natural angle of a jump pack in his position.

I decided to do nothing since it actually looks ok the way it fits on now. It's not flush with his back and is a little crooked compared to the hardpoint on his back, but everything is the right shape, and you'll only see those problems if you look really hard.
