So I just found out something that may or may not be true. A very reliable source at our local gaming store told me that sometime in the next month or two battle foam will begin some kind of new trade in program. I guess they will be taking in used sabol and games workshop bags for credit on battle foam product. I don't know if that means all product or just bags, but it sounds awesome. It seems that it will work something like EB Games does for video games. That's all I could get on the topic since the guy did not have details.
The other cool rumor was about some kind of new bag that is designed just for super heavy vehicles. Stompas, baneblades, and even large flyers. Can you say, thunderhawk case.
Well that's what I got so make of it what you will.
Cheers

That doesn't make any sense. Why would Romeo want people's old bags and foam? So he could resell them instead of having them buy a battlefoam bag?

I asked the same question. From the sounds of it I don't think they plan on selling them. I can't imagine what they would do with the thousands of bags they would have traded in. If the rumor has any truth to it they must of figured something out. I'll wait and see.
Cheers

Maybe thats enough for some people to trade their armybags.

Actually the price does not go down they just buy your case for the amount they take off. You are sacking a $50-$90 case..I doubt they are giving that much of a discount.

I think both cases merit a purpose. I love my Battle Foam case as I can actually carry more than one army in it including all my drop pods. I like how it is customized and fits everything. I love my Sabol cases for carrying around my WIP, paints, or even my small armies like my Grey Knights. I will admit that I like the durability of the Battle Foam cases as they have hard sides. I have been using a roll around for years that actually is for scrapbooking and fits the sabol foams. It too has hard sides and fits one army.
Personally I think a trade in for battle foam would be silly. Representation at major events will work better for him.

They don't make ice cream, they don't order pizza for you and they don't make your army fight any better. What more did people want? They're bags that hold miniatures. Sorry if I come of rude but phrases like, "...not being all they're hyped up to be." kind of bother me about a bag designed to hold miniatures. It is what it is.

Hello guys,
Well, I'll start off by saying I plead the 5th. Also, Kinghammer are you who I think you are? PM me so we can talk. You can also call me or email me by using our website info.
Now to comment on these rumors a bit.
1. I'm not going to give this a yes or a no or talk about any details but if we ever did a bag trade in we would make it worth something. We would also apply this credit if it was a true thing to help you guys with the price. That would take care of people who have pricing issues. Lets say a fully loaded 432 was $25.00 to $30.00 less, that would not make you guys happy?
2. We have 3 new bags on the design board for this year and early 2010. I work on new ideas all the time and bags will be just a small part of what Battle Foam will one day be capable of doing for the miniature hobby. The comment directly on the rumor I would say the following. I create bags, I create foam, and I have a looted ork Thunderhawk that I need to transport. What to do, what to do?????
Also, thanks for all the kind words from Battle Foam believers. GoFenris, it makes me so happy to know you are doing well and the bags are working out.
Hope this helps.
Romeo

Would be awsome if we could trade in our old SD foams that have been plucked for a fancy new foam, though heaven help me if I know what you would do with it (can you melt down crappy foam to make a better foam?).
The price is a bit high, but its A) a newer company who still needs to regain their initial investment, and B) a far superior product.
Now that I gave my pitch, can I get my bag order a little early?

Infiltrating Broodlord

If this rumour comes true, it would make me *very* happy. The battlefoam cases look like they would suit my needs much better than the Sabol cases. While my warmachine stuff or my Chaos army fits into a regular Sabol case, there is no way my Nid army nor my Guard army will - the Sabol case is just too small.
I've been considering buying a Sabol Division case to fit my Nid or Guard army, but it would be a tight fit - the Battlefoam 1520 would be much more suitable really. However, I've invested *several hundred dollars* into a Sabol case and dozens of Sabol trays; I can't justify just throwing them all away AND buying more expensive trays and a more expensive case, so that is holding me back.
If I *could* trade in my Sabol case and all the Sabol trays for a significant discount on Battlefoam case and trays, then that would effectively get me to switch over. Subsequently I would buy even *more* Battlefoam trays as I expand my armies, meaning more money for Romeo. It would be a smart move on his part, in order to get people like me to switch systems. Even if it means he sells some initial stuff at cost (or even a slight loss) and has to recycle / ritually burn the Sabol stuff he gets in trade, he'd reap much more profit in the future as people who have switched over end up buying more of *his* trays and cases instead of spending their money buying more from Sabol. Short term loss to gain market share, it makes sense.
Even better would be if Romeo were to somehow be able to set up a distribution point inside Canada, so that we Canucks don't get savaged shipping and/or Canada Customs charges...but that's just a pipe dream. I do shudder to think of the shipping costs to Canada for a 1520 and 2 or 3 loads worth of trays, due to the sheer bulk. Of course I have no idea how many Canadian customers he has, nor how difficult/costly it would be to set up a distribution point, so it might not be worth it at this point.
Hope the trade-in rumour is true!
Edit: re shipping to Canada post: that's exactly what I was afraid of...

If there is a trade in program that would be all I need to get into battlefoam too. I have 3 sabol cases, but every model I have is stored in a sabol foam tray and I just swap out the trays for what I'm bringing that day. My original sabol bag has seen better days so if I could trade that in along with some older trays that would be great. Or maybe if I could ship my sabol case full of models to BF, and get back everything returned in a BF bag with custom foam that would be awesome
Right now I'm gonna have 2 valks and some other new stuff to add to my guard army, and I'm on the fence as to if I should just get sabol sized BF trays for them, or invest in an all new bag. So a worthwhile trade in for my old bag would be a nice incentive to get me to switch

Hmmm... While I like my sabol bags fine I find myself using my GW hard cases less and less. If I could offload those and get a discount on a Battlefoam bag I may do it.
Again, if you don't want to take advantage of this, that's fine but why criticize it? You don't have to trade in your old car when you buy a new one but do you criticize the trade in policy? Do you get butthurt when they don't take your used car for the same value you paid for it? Sheesh, some people just like to complain I guess.

Hi Bunker,
I would say you have more of a problem with the post office, not us. We only charge what we charge because of fees related to shipping. Different countries charge more and we are all the way down in Arizona. Not in North Dakota 2 minutes away from the border. Also we make penuts when it comes to shipping and most of it goes to boxes and tape. Its a completely bad idea to order 1 tray due to the high price for shipping. Again, I must stress that the post office is cleaning everyone out, not us. We sure do not make any cash on the deal.
Its just like forgeworld. You pay 15% of the total cost and they hit you with international fees on top of it. I just got a set of punisher cannons for my valks and they cost me aroun $20.00. I paid almost $15.00 in shipping and some other fee. Quality costs money and buying just one tray does not make the best sense.
The only comment that really is untrue in my opinion is the fraying comment. We have quality controled our bags since day one. We have also had customers that have beat the living snot out of their bags in just a few months of use. No fraying, no problems, and no complaints. I would say that is just good old fashion bad mouthing. Again in my opinion. Lastly, we provide 100% customer satisfaction. If your bag fails or you have a problem, all you need to do is call us and the problem is solved or fixed. I have yet to get a call or email about any customers having bags that failed. So lets make statements that are true, not comments that sound like fact but in truth are just hear say or made up. Thanks, its only polite.
Romeo
