I would say you have more of a problem with the post office, not us. We only charge what we charge because of fees related to shipping. Different countries charge more and we are all the way down in Arizona. Not in North Dakota 2 minutes away from the border. Also we make penuts when it comes to shipping and most of it goes to boxes and tape. Its a completely bad idea to order 1 tray due to the high price for shipping. Again, I must stress that the post office is cleaning everyone out, not us. We sure do not make any cash on the deal.
With all due respect Romeo, the shipping cost from Arizona to Toronto and from Detroit to Toronto are the same thing. There is no way that it is possible that you would pay 19 dollars out of your pocket to ship me one tray of foam.
I will admit though, you guys pale in comparison to Sabol, whos website quoted me as costing me $70 dollars to ship me an empty Army Transport Mark II
Regardless, I'll probably end up just putting my money where my mouth is anyways and ordering a P.A.C.K 432 with a couple trays of foam and see for myself.
Just out of curiousity, what are the chances of you guys putting out a tray for the P.A.C.K system that just holds Rhinos? you have one for the GW case, but the onyl one for the p.A.C.K system holds stuff other than rhinos.

Except that's just what he told you. Are you calling him a liar? It's expensive to ship one item. He has to box it up, package it, and then go to the post office and ship it. He doesn't make any money on shipping, it's just that expensive.

Oh boy, here we go.
Did i use the word liar? I don't recall typing it, but perhaps Dakka has some sort of cool new invisible font feature that I don't know about.
Seriously though, go to the post office with two addresses, one a state away and one across the country. They will cost the exact same thing. I highly this is just a Canada Post thing, otherwise we Canadians have something else to add to our reasons to brag.

In terms of just rhino foams, its doable. They do custom foams and have a lot of the normal fits already measured. Or you could call or email em. I found out the metal LRC is wider than the plastic one from them, they know their stuff. There is a reason so many people are jumping to BF defense, and that's their outstanding customer service.
Stop being so mean to Romeo... its making me sad :(

Bunker, I used to do Ebay sales from my retail store and I can tell you that international shipping, ANY international shipping is expensive as GAK!
I can also verifiy that Romeo is true to his word on the customer gurantee, there was one small change that I wanted on my recent 1520 custom load out order, I wanted another chimera tray instead of the three extra infantry trays that were sent to me. I was going to ship him back the three infantry trays in exchange for the chimera tray and he advised me not to because of the shipping costs I would incur to send it to him. (I later checked with Fed Ex, and it would have cost me 12.50 for three one inch infantry trays and that's domestic)
In the end I purchases an extra Chimera tray, and he did not charge me shipping on the extra tray to make me happy as a customer.
You know what, it worked!!! I have recomended the 1520 to everyone who has seen it and I bring the damn thing everywhere.
As to its durability, I beat the hell out of mine and not only has it not so much as frayed one thread, it has protected the 1000+ dollars of Imperial guard tanks, valkyries, and infantry from so much as a single scratch!
BF is expensive, yes, but so is a Mercedes and both for good reason.
If you dont feel the extra cost is worth it, thats one thing, but dont mistake the quality of the product or the williness of the manufacturer to stand behind it.
Just out of curiousity, what are the chances of you guys putting out a tray for the P.A.C.K system that just holds Rhinos? you have one for the GW case, but the onyl one for the p.A.C.K system holds stuff other than rhinos.
They will always custom cut any tray you want. I got my custom chimera only tray and it came out perfect!!! Just tell them what is in your army or that you want trays for and you can get a custom cut tray for anything you want. Only on thier own bag trays though, I dont think they still do the custom load out for competitors bags but I could be wrong on that.

For me, if they offer a trade in on my sabol case, I'll jump at it, however I'm not sure it could end up being worth it off the top of my head.
For example, When I try to buy a pack the shipping is something huge like $25, if this is the cost of shipping (I don't ship things this large too often, so I'll assume it is) and I earn a 30 dollar credit or something similar towards my pack...the cost of shipping my SABOL to them might eat all of the difference up. I'd be interested to hear a hypothetical of how this would be solved , as I'm sure I'm not realizing anything Romeo hasn't already, if this did end up being true.
Second, how about a case in between the size of the 432 and the 1520, or just a 1520 without those bookbag straps. I don't suppose that itself is possible?
Call me self conscious, but the main reason the 1520 doesn't appeal to me is the bookbag straps, I'd go for a shoulder strap or even just the handle.

You obvoiusly have never actually tried this in the States. Your regional location makes a huge difference for a package (a letter however is the same).
For example where I work (in retail shipping actually) in Washington state its the cheapest to send to OR or CA, a bit more expensive for NV, MT and quite a bit more for NY or FL. Im fairly sure this extends in to Canada (not positive though), whereas its cheaper for me to ship to Vancouver than to say Halifax.
I should note these rates are for USPS priority and parcel post packages. I have limited xp with Fedex and UPS but im pretty sure its close to the same rates.
And yes shipping anywhere internationally is very expensive, I think we average around 15-16usd for a 1 lb package to Canada.
Anyhow not trying to incite anything was just trying to help some people understand how shipping works....If anyone can even understand my waargghhhaabballlll.

100% wrong unless you're using overnight express mail (and if you are, you've got bigger issues because no one needs their minis OVERNIGHT). the cost to ship to the contiguous 48 states is the same, whether you live 10 miles from someone and they happen to be in another state or across the country. here's a few pics from the handy dandy USPS.gov calculator. if you got charged more for shipping further, you got scammed. the first pic is a quote of postage from somewhere in maine to another zipcode in maine. the second is a quote from maine to san diego (the further place in the 48 states i could think of). as for canadian prices, they're less than priority mail for the same weight and more than parcel post; there is not a significant difference using the standard national postal systems. i can't comment on UPS or fed ex as i don't use them.
Automatically Appended Next Post:
that being said, the "trouble"/effort to ship one tray is similar to 10 and i can see why he's overcharging on that shipping to encourage bigger orders. it's called shipping & HANDLING for a reason.

I'm still trying to figure out why I got deleted for calling Bunker on his silly "fraying" comment, yet his comment remained? I OWN the BF Bags and they are durable and mine have NO wear and tear. How is my comment less valid? Even if it was off-topic? So was his. What kind of BS went on today? I own the bags. Oh, wait!... Yes, I think the trade in policy, of which Romeo has or has not denied, I can't tell, is a great idea! I think it would be wonderful to trade in my old crappy Sabol Bags to upgrade to what I hear are great BattleFoam bags (I heard, because I own them and told myself so) so its a great idea and great policy! I hope Romeo does do it! Its fething wonderful! Thanks Romeo for clearing up that your bags are thoroughly tested! I knew it, though because I already said it! From experience! My own experience, because, guess what, I own the bags! WOW! (Directed at Frazzled the Mod, not Romeo from Battlefoam BTW) Is this all ON-fething-TOPIC enough? fething bs! Yes, I am pissed off but sarcasm aside, I really do love my Battle-Foam bags and they show no wear and tear.

feel free to do it yourself (not trying to be rude but i can't think of any other way of saying that). i've already proved my point. it's not my job to try and prove myself wrong, lol... besides, one foam tray and box (the item we're talking about) doesn't weigh that much unless it's coming in that adamantium box mentioned earlier in the thread.

From Maine to Maine (2 lbs)
http://postcalc.usps.gov/MailServices.aspx?Country=Domestic&M=2&P=2&O=0&OZ=04406&DZ=04606&MailingDate=6/24/2009&MailingTime=17:00&Restrict=False
From Maine to Beverly Hills 90210 (I know its not San Diego but whatever) 2lbs

There ya go, sorry im to lazy to take screens. So yeah a pretty huge difference. So your right about anything under 1lb but anything over and its a huge difference. And remember 1lb 1oz = 2 lbs, and that includes packaging. My point was USPS DOES take into account region.
Sorry about the threadjack
Edit: Heres a guide to USPS zones, if that helps you understand

Just for the record a single tray plus the box is over a pound. Remember this foam is much more dense and has a hard bottom and comes in a full hard cardboard box.

Guys,
Let me put this thing to rest once and for all. Bigmac68 is dead on. We never have any boxes that weigh under 2 pounds. This can be verified by just weighing your package when you get it if you don't believe me. With that said flat rate shipping only applies to boxes that are a specific size. Our products never fit those boxes so we get charged shipping depending on 2 factors. The zip code, or the country its getting mailed to.
Fedex works the exact same way and does not even offer flat rate shipping. International shipping for us with a USPS account still costs a minimum of $20.00 per package to Canada. We then pay for boxes, tape, and the guy that works here boxing your stuff up. That means that your actually getting a discount on your shipping at only $19.00 for just one tray. We lose money on orders like that and it sucks for you and for us.
Guys, until you ship things daily and deal with these charges, please don't flame. It just causes fights and bad blood. We work our butts off to get these trays to you as quickly as possible to places all over the world. That is no easy task and if on the odd chance we make a buck or two that does not make us bad people. The trucking business destroys us weekly with shipping and fuel surcharges on all of our raw material deliveries. We don't even put those charges on our customers. So lets all do a bit more logical research before calling anyone a lier or a cheat.
Back on topic for just a minute. I will be starting a weekly YouTube Battle Foam news show. We will tape the first one this weekend. Nothing big, just about 8 to 9 minutes of useful information. I'll cover things like new foam trays releasing. Bag ideas, designs we are working on, and most of all secret stuff. We will also go over emails that come from you guys regarding useful questions. It helps when we answer some of these to help everone out with normal questions. (like why shipping costs so much, lol) We will also do tips on storing your minis and how to care for your bags and foam.
I just thought it would be cool to be available to everyone in case you guys need to get in touch with me. If I'm going to be the owner of this company and sell you guys $300.00 toy bags, I better be there to answer your questions and take care of you if you need help with something. Its just the right thing to do.
Anyway, look for some really big news on the second episode.
Lastly, this may be of some importance to all of you. We have been picked up by 3 major distributers around the country. We have very large orders going out to them in the next 10 days. That means that within 2 to 3 weeks they will have the bags in some if not all the local shops across the country and in Canada. If shipping is a problem, contact your local store owner and have him call us. We may be able to get bags sold right out of your back yard if they don't have them ordered already.
Also, thanks for all the kind words from people. You guys really do drive me to work harder for you each and every day.
Romeo

Im going to order a bag as soon as I can save enough scrilla, cause IMHO these bags are def worth it.

The bag exchange (if true) is a simple marketing plan, not a trap.
It's a process of taking in competing brands in exchange for some cash off of a new purchase. It entices people to 'switch brands' or try something new.
