Seeing as everyone is posting 'Ard Boyz lists, i thought i'd have a go with the SOB. I'm not entirely happy only having 2 meltas in each dominion squad, nor with only having one HQ. ! think the list has enough heavy weaponry to take down most other mech lists (for once, i'd be using the exorcits to take down transports/heavy infantry), enough flamers to make a volcano sh*t itself, and a very nasty tank hunting/assault unit with the HQ.

What do y'all reckon? Worth it?

Cannoness should be given Inferno Pistol to make use of BS5. The Jump Pack Cannoness makes better use of the Eviserator rather then being in a Squad.

4+ Troops is recommended at 2500 so add at least 1 more Battle Sister Squad. Melta instead of flamer because there are so many mech lists and you want more meltas.

Not really worth it to buy Eviserators for Celestians since the squad is so small. If you really want to buy Eviserators get them for your Cannonesses. Only 2 Meltas allowed per Celestian squad unless you get the Superior a Combi melta which really isn't worth it.

Dominions are made to have 4 flamers for killing Infantry. Meltaguns for them are expensive.

Buy at least 2 Search Lights on Rhinos for Dawn of War missions. If you have the points give all your vehicles search lights.

Oops, forgot all about the melta limit on celestians. Good points though. I was going all out for as many immolators as possible.

I could drop one squad of celestians, the canonness' retinue and immolator: Should give enough for another troops squad with melta and, 2 flying HQ's.

I would never take quad-Flamer Dominions; they are never worth it. Compared to a basic Mech-Sisters unit, they are more expensive, more fragile and, off the top of my head, only kill one more MEQ per turn (I may have remembered the numbers wrong, but I remember clearly that they were pathetic). They are much better in fifth, but still too expensive to consider.

Other than that, I pretty well agree with what Avariel said. I would suggest, for 'Ard Boyz, slimming those units a little more and getting at least one more Immolator. A full-on Immolator-spam list would probably perform better than one with Exorcists too. If you take Heavy Support Immolators, you could use three min-maxed Storm Trooper Squads with Meltaguns to buff-up your scoring units. Given the direction of the meta-game, I would swap at least the Flamers for Meltaguns, if not the Heavy Flamers too. The Canoness does not need the Mantle if in a squad, but probably should still take the Cloak.

Celestians are LD 9 anyway, no need to give them a book if their vet's LD is the same.

If you're looking to run as many imolators as possible then you should run another cannoness with a celestian retinue.

Personally I only run my dominion squads w/2 flamers. That's normally enough since they cost so much more than standard specials. I also just give them a vet sister for the faith point and that is it. I agree that you need a 4th troop choice badly as without it you lose one at this point and you lose the chance at first place in the tournament (assuming your playing an objective mission).

So drop 2 flamers from each squad dominion squad. Drop the vet upgrade on the two retinues since it doesn't get you anything. Drop the 3 extra melta's that you can't have And drop the vet upgrade in the celestian squad and all her their goodies and you can afford another whole squad of sisters and keep the rest of your numbers up.

I played melta-dominions, but switched to 2 Seraphim units - 1 antitank and 1 antipersonnel.

Seraphim can not be stopped by an odd autocannon hit.

+ I never needed 4-flamers dominions.

Basic Sisters squad (HF,flamer, combiflamer) deals with infantry just as good.
And it is much more durable TROOP.

The ard boyz rules state that you can take inducted vet squads to replace inducted fist squads. As such, taking inducted vet squads with 3 meltas in chimera would be a significantly cheaper and better than 2 melta celestians. In fact, over the three units, you can save 129 points with melta vets x3 vs melta celestians x3. You also get the added benefit of keeping the vets in the transport and still shooting all the meltas out of the new guard chimeras.

Also, the VS+book on small suicide squads like the dominions seems a bit of waste of points as well. I've rarely needed more than 8 initial faith points, so you can gain 57 more points by going without VS+book on the dominions. The almost 190 points saved with these two suggestions could be used to buy something like Elite Inq + 3 vet warriors with plasma in rhino or a second, slightly cheaper canoness+retinue.

Finally, I've found 3 flamers to work with dominions but I've almost never been able to fire all four flamers at a single target.

Gotta disagree with you on the holy promethium, even if you fire it last it can make the enemy retreat, and run out of your line of fire. Most armies can regroup some how or have fearless anyway, it's not worth the upgrade.
