Subject: Re:Valkryies, Vendettas, should they actually carry anything?
I have tried a lot of different load outs in the Vendettas I run and so far Melta Vets have proved to be the best bet.
In games where you face a lot of armor they are well worth their points and then some. If you get first turn you just Scout move up 24' then move 12 and drop your Vets out; by by tanks. If you get second turn just outflank with them.
Even in games where you don't see a lot of armored targets they can prove to be slightly useful. Against foot slogging Hordes with big MC's they can lay down a fair amount of AP1 wounds and if some Terminators decide to show up 2 BS4 Melta shots never hurt.
In the end in boils down to personal preference. However, with 5th Edition being so tank heavy it seems like your best bet.
