Looks good.

How much do the materials cost?

Cheers

Resin casting starts at around $35 AUD for a starter kit.

Goes up from there.

Well I've been hammered Anyway, I bought my kit at Hobby Lobby and it's the exact same stuff that JB used in his thread. Very easy to use and mold, but I would definitely use olive oil vs. the pre-made stuff as even when sprayed the bonding is quite sticky I almost lost my wheel when I thought I couldn't pull the two pieces apart.

But all is well. Going to buy the Resin kit today and see how the cast works out. I won't post any pics though

Total cost = $20 due to two 40% off coupons I printed off from Hobby Lobby website! The molding compound was $20 and the Resin was $15. I just bought them separately and with the coupons I save $15!

Good times. Working on the Resin mold right now. Smells, uh, hmm. Interesting . . .

FAILED! When I poured the resin into the mold - it seeped through and got all over . . . .

Trying again after 10 min to let the mold dry out.

It is really easy, but maybe I just didn't have a good hold with the rubber band.

Started the second mold, but still having leakage issues. We'll see. Back in 10 minutes!

Ok. 2nd time didn't set up well, even after 15 min. I don't even think it started to harden, so it must be too cool inside.

So, I decided the 3rd time is the charm!

I don't have leakage issues anymore since the resin has now "molded" itself to the cast and is pretty sticky.

I took the 3rd sample outside to sit in the heat. Maybe that will help.

Heat did the trick! Definitely worked, but as JB stated in his post, the air is very tricky. Even in the heat, the mold isn't fully cured at 10 min, but it worked!

Now just need to make 2 more wheels (that are not stretched and full of bubbles) and one frame and we're good!
