Greetings, Dakka!
I come to you with a query on how to flock a gaming table.
So, I have my wooden table assembled and, well, wooden.
How do I go about putting down dirt and grass on the Table?

Greydeath is well worth a P.M. on this one, check out his BLOG to see some of his terrain. Really nice work, especially the newest ( I think) hill field... not sure how else to describe it. I'll get the link in a sec.
And here ya go = http://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/330/206892.page

The thing about is how did he go about doing it?
That aside, it is a really nice table.

If I were to guess I think it is static grass, but I haven't worked with that stuff yet so I could be wrong. As to how he applies it, I am pretty sure most people use standard "white" glue. Possibly watered down glue painted on to maintain the surface, I am not too sure.

Try just mixing sand in with paint the colour of the flock you want. It's far easier than painting on glue and dealing with powdered flock.

You can always just buy a 4x8 flocked mat from a hobby shop. Considering how much glue and flock you'd need to flock a full sized table it would probably be a cheaper route and it would look just as good. They're $30 at hobby lobby.

I used to play in a group where the "leader" had built a REALLY nice and pricey table. What he did was buy a bunch of sand. He then mixed in a big spray bottle elmers glue and water. Sprayed the surface good and thick, and then dumped the sand ontop and smoothed it over. He then, a couple times a day, go down stairs and spray more "glue" ontop. He did that for about a week or so. I tell you that table was a solid rock when he finally was done. It was pretty durable too. Then obviously he painted it and drybrushed like normal.

A simple method would to use Krylon Make It Stone! textured paints and just spray it on your board. An easy way to give your board a good textured 'stone' look. I used the 'Black Granite' for a Cities of Death board to give it an asphalt look but the other colors would work well for a variety of themes.
