Thanks mate, I’m dead chuffed with the Plague Marines and can’t wait to get them on the table after Easter.
mcmattila wrote:I really love your Nurgle scheme! The pastel pink and neon green really pop agains the black armor. But if you're thinking about trying different colors for the fleshy bits, I say go for it. I'd suggest other pastel colors like light blue or orange maybe?

Thanks mcmatilla, I hadn’t thought about pastel colours, but I think that you might be right! I’ll give it a go on the next squad! Thanks!
JordySteve wrote:The nurgle marines look great but loving what you are doing with the Space Hulk terminators. They have some great detail and you are doing them justice! Can’t wait to see how they end up!

Thanks JordySteve, the Space Hulk Terminators are jam packed with details I can barely differentiate some of it. I’m looking forward to getting some grime on them to give them a lovely grim dark look.

I thought we were going to see Void Panthers Terminators for Space Hulk!! :O Your work so far looks good - I bet you will love the finished results post streaking. Your list of things to check up on made me smile - triple checking is a necessity eh!

Funny you should say that, I have thought about matching the load out on some Void Panther Terminators. Maybe that could be my next Panthers Project? Honestly, list making is one of the most useful things about dakka sometimes!

Absolutely loving the DG. Your scheme is great, the lilac nurglings and mutations, the green slime. It ties the whole scheme together. I don't envy you painting all that trim and all those details! What a lot of work has gone into this force.

Horus? Is that you? . Thanks Tek, the trim on both plague marines and Terminators.

Got the Mother in law staying this week, so not had much opportunity to paint, but I’ve ticked a few bits off the Terminator to do list:

Nothing special on these two cloaks, Lorenzo got a teal and turquoise highlight on his black cape and Calistarius some Red highlights. I also added a skull transfer to Calistarius’ shoulder pad in prep for some free hand where I’ll be trying to paint a face in gold with an iron halo also involved.

Separately I also highlighted Scipio’s shoulder pad and Noctis’ red eagle, but haven’t taken pics. Not sure when I’ll get the airbrush out to do Goriel’s Genestealer, but I’ll hopefully get the dead guys skull highlighted and Calistarius’ shoulder pad painted. Then I’ll add some scripture to all of the parchment.

Thanks for looking

You've done a really good job on those Space Hulk Terminators.

Thanks, they’re pretty full on with all of the details, but they’re still fun to paint.

MIL departed today, so a spot of F1 Quali this evening was a good opportunity to do a few more bits on the Terminators. My previous to do list has been heavily eroded and I even painted the ribs on their joints.

i should’ve got a picture of Calistarius’ shoulder pad free hand. It’s far from perfect and hard to photograph, but I think it’s just about possible to tell what it is. The scriptures seem to have turned out ok. I was worried that my usual pen would rub off post streaking grime removal, so used paint. That is harder to get thin, but it looks decent enough. The symbols on Calistarius’ big sheets turned out ok too. I think I pretty much only have the Genestealer left to do before I throw some grime about. Maybe I’ll do it out the window to save clearing my desk!?

Thanks for looking

Automatically Appended Next Post:
First up here’s Calistarius’ shoulder pad… don’t laugh at the child’s drawing!

I don’t think it terrible, but it’s not winning any prizes. In hindsight the transfer wasn’t much help and it folded, hence the line on one of the cheeks.

This afternoon I got the airbrush out and after masking off the terminator with blue tack I painted up the Genestealer

And that pic was proof of what they looked like before getting grimy

Here they are after their bath

And the grimdark comes out nicely post make up sponge removal. It’s like liquid grimdark in a bottle.

Pleased with how they’re coming along, will add some highlights to the gems and lenses. I’ll probably do some on the gold and silvers too, but that’ll probably be next weekend.

Thanks for looking

It’s been a couple of weeks, but I’ve been busy hobbying. First up I played my first game of 40K in what must be nearly 30years. I brought the Void Panthers to play my mates Armoured Imperial Guard. Here’s the set up

Having played Kill Team I was a bit surprised how effective getting first turn was. Here’s the Assault squad and Missile Launcher Devs getting whittled down

And at the end of the Guards first turn the Land Raider had been deleted and the Lascannons/Multimelta Devastators got neutered. I didn’t take any other photos after that, maybe a bit of a sore loser. I did make a hit of a comeback when the Terminators, bikes and land speeder arrived. Though it was short lived as I really struggled to open up chimeras let alone Dorns. When I did get some guardsmen in the open they didn’t last long but I got tabled in the end.

Around the same time the new local game store’s (Cryptic Cabin in Bristol) 50k WhatsApp community set up a New Player League. I picked my list before the Guard game so I don’t have much faith in the Demi-Company plus Terminator Captain. They’ll at least look good whilst dying at the hands of the Eldar army that I’m playing in round 1 next Friday.

In trying to learn my lesson I’ve made a start on some reinforcements.

The 2+ anti vehicles on the Gravcannon should come in handy, so I made a start on that squad. Similarly the Assault Marines lacked a bit of punch so I figured that I’d upgrade to Vanguard Vets. I might print some risers to allow the Assault Marines to proxy as Assault Intercessor who are considerably cheaper points wise. Since the Chaplain was my MVP in the imperial guard game, I though he could join the Assault Marines or Vanguard Vets and for 1k games a Jump Captain should be better value than Terminator Captain. In the background you can also see the statue from Blood and Zeal got built.

Then last Friday the Plague Marine Kill Team got a run out at the LGS.

Playing end to end I was worried I wouldn’t be able to get forward fast enough, but a dash for the champion helped, as did having 3APL

The near side saw some heated fighting, the Heavy Gunner died on the cloud of flies token having earlier in the turn killed 2 of the 3 kriegers on the platform. Sadly the medic resuscitated the watch master. They then managed to take him out. The Melta gunner on the ground nearly finished the Champion who then nearly finished the gunnner!

We had to finish after TP3 but the game was really decided with me grabbing all 3 objectives and the central positions to secure my Tac Op and the Crit Op. MVP for me was probably the Plaguecaster. He brought the Iconbearer back from near death, whittling down guardsmen and finishing them off thanks to poisonings. Overall I think it was a good learning experience, me with my new team and my opponent who was playing his first game against someone that knows the rules (ish)

As a final update I decided that since quite a few other members of the League had crammed armour and Monsters in to 1000 points that the Panthers needed some light armour. I figured a Razorback with twin linked lascannons would be a good transport for a squad of Gravcannon or Multimelta Devastators. Only problem was the only razorback bits I have were heavy bolters, so I found a file and printed one up.

Obviously since I wanted it finished within 3 weeks ready for round 2 of the league I figured that I’d paint the interior! at least it was much simpler than the Land Raider and I got it done in one go

Getting a pic from the top was tough as I kept getting shadows, so this is as good as I could manage

As per my criteria, finishing the inside of a tank counts as a finished mini. I’ve got to say that I’m happy how it turned out and particularly given it was already glued together, so I had to paint it through the rear door and top hatch

I then primed the outside in all 3 configurations

Twin linked Lascannons

Rhino

Looking at the razorback stats, I’m a bit annoyed at myself for selling the Hunter Killer Missiles that I had accumulated across eBay buys. Oh well, it funded the plastic addiction somewhat!

Sunday was a quiet day and sunny outside so I also made some progress on the other reinforcements. The Captain and Devastators got their good blocked in again after the Nuln oil bath. I didn’t take pics while they were outside but hopefully they are noticeably brighter than the Veterans in the next pic.

Looking at the Devs, I think they are slightly brighter, but it’s quite noticeable how much more orange the bottle of Retributor armour is compared to the colour forge spray that’s supposed to be colour matched. Anyway, the Razorback got its main colours blocked in tonight and is looking pretty good. I’ll get the small bits of green blocked in next and give it a Nuln Oil bath. The print quality on the lascannons was a bit weak, but from above with the ironed ton surfaces it looks pretty decent already. Bases aside, I think they’re all pretty much Battle Ready standard, but I’ll try to get them all ready for round 2.

Thanks for looking, and well done to those that read all of that, it went on for a while! Have an internet cookie as a reward

Yay. Cookies.

Quite an update, gobert. Everything is looking good. Can't wait to see that statue painted up. Here's hoping the new boys can bring it home in the next game.

Thanks man, the league has got me pretty motivated to paint more Panthers, but the New Death Guard Codex has me itching to paint their Nurgly Brethren, so much so I’ve splashed on the codex, index cards and combat partrol. I even spent my birthday vouchers on a Great Unclean One whose body is assembled, I just need to decide on what weapons, head and nurglings to use, or maybe I magnetise him ?

Tonight though was the Plague Marine Kill Teams second outing. This time it was up against legionaries. I didn’t take many pics and it ended up being a really quick game that somehow avoided any melee.

I think this was the start of TP2 and the Malignant Plaguecaster was about to earn his keep with saving the Icon Bearer, then in TP3 he saved himself regaining a maximum 7 wounds each time! It really reinforced my opponents view on how tough the Plague Marines are. I didn’t get any other good pics, and this one ain’t great. At least you can still see how fancy my new Purple and Gold Dice are! . They didn’t fail me and I took a convincing victory by again nabbing early objectives and using the same minis for my Tac Op. it seems that victory must’ve angered the other Chaos gods as I fell off my bike on the way tot the train station after the game. I thought I’d gotten away with a bruised elbow but turns out I had a big cut on my knee. So I’ve been in A&E pretty much since the waiting for stitches. On the bright side, I don’t have to pay and I’ve managed to get through a good number of dakka plogs next I’ll do a bit of research on the job I want to apply for next month.

Thanks for looking and remember to not upset the dark powers
