Some more good Cheap-O Terrain here. With only some cardboard, Bits, Sprues, and Warhammer Modular Movement Trays (Plasticard can substitute this) I've gone and made some ruins for my 40k games (unpainted of course, bleh) And here they are. Nice? meh, I know. But the more money you save, the more money you can use to buy stuff! Perhaps one of my favorite parts is the side of the first building, which was made entirely out of bits (and wood) A Unit of Space Marines defends the ruin And now, a little Diorama of the Cheap-O Scenery I've made so far. Ork Boyz Charge a barricade defended by Space Marines A Dreadnought takes cover in the ruins Some Goff Kommandos Attack from behind Thanks for looking, and expect even more Cheap-O Terrain. Also Expect an Assault on Black Reach Battle Report with these terrain pieces.

Cardboard really doesn't last. You'd get much more mileage and enhanced detail from foam board. You can get a 20" x 30" sheet for like 3 bucks.

I know this is slightly off-topic but Goff Kommandos? slightly unexpected, but i love the paint scheme
and yes the terrain is cool too.

Thanks Nightwatch.
The paint Scheme throws a lot of my opponents off-guard.
Wait till you see the Full Squad once painted.

Not bad but if your interesting in better looking terrain, check the link here http://www.ss42.com/toys.html .The cardstock you need is cheap, 500 sheets for a fiver, and if you pick the right project a building that looks great takes ten minutes! (With thanks to Silveroxide who introduced me to this site)

"But me no buts! Our comrades get hurt. Our friends die. Falkenburg is a knight who swore an oath to serve the church and to defend the weak. He'd be the first to tell you to stop puling and start planning. Because what we are doing-at risk to ourselves-is what we have sworn to do. The West relies on us. It is a risk we take with pride. It is an oath we honour. Even when some soft southern burgher mutters about us, we know the reason he sleeps soft and comfortable, why his wife is able to complain about the price of cabbages as her most serious problem and why his children dare to throw dung and yell "Knot" when we pass. It's because we are what we are. For all our faults we stand for law and light.

Looks good. I'm a big fan of Cheap-O terrain, but I think you can do a bit better. Using the spare sprue for beams is a good idea but it wouldn't take long to cut or file the bits that stick out. This will make them look a lot less like spare sprue. Similarly, you can cut, sand or file the numbers off the whippy sticks with little effort and it will improve the look of the ruins a lot.
Looking forward to your next creation.

It does look good so far. My only tip would be to fill the edges of the cardboard so it doesnt look like cardboard. The cheap way is to buy some elmers glue, and fill the sides in. Let it set for a couple days and its rock solid.

Nice in principle but I think the buildings should be painted a more realistic colour. Concrete grey would help.
