So i'm playing a 2k game this saturday, and I want to field a fun but competitive list. Without giving you many clues, I'd like to see what you would play in a 2k ork speed freak list! I shall post my list this evening.

My 2k speed freaks list:
Gazzy
1 warboss with bike, atack squiq, PK, cybork body, bosspole.
6 nobbikers and painboy (all with different gear and cybork body, 2 PK)
1 mob of 17 choppa boys plus nob with PK and bosspole
1 mob of 19 choppa boys plus nob with PK and bosspole
2 mob of 11 shootaboys. 1 big shoota and nob with PK and bosspole on truck
12 lootas
2 battlewagon with deffrolla, red paint and grot rigger, boarding plank and 1 big shoota.
1 battlewagon with 2 big shoota (lootas are inside here)
So 5 vehicles and one group of bikers. Bikers give cover to trucks, trucks give cover to wagons. So only the wagon with lootas does not move, rest all ruch to the enemy. Also this list has 5 scoring unit too.

I fit into the crowd that believes that if you're going to do something, go full throttle. With that in mind, there's a couple rules that come into play for an ork speed freak army.
1. Every unit should be as big as possible (people who don't do this shouldn't play Orks)
2. Every unit should fit into your larger army tactical plan and serve a distinct purpose while working in tandem
3. Every unit should be able to get where you're going fast.
4. Mobility is most important.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now, taking those principles and fitting them into an army list, I come up with something along these lines:
HQ: Ghazghkull
HQ: Big Mek with KFF
Troop 1: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
Troop 2: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
Troop 3: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
Troop 4: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
Troop 5: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
Troop 6: 11 Boyz + Nob/PK, Trukk + Red Paint Job
You've got a potential 30" assault range with Ghazghkull in your list, and all your trukks have 4+ cover saves as long as you keep some part of them touching 6" of the Big Mek's trukk.
Variations on this theme are just fine - Having Ghazghkull lets you take a unit of nobs as a troops choice; you can stick a squad of 10 nobs independently equipped into a trukk and have a ridiculously powerful unit with 2-3 powerklaws, 2-3 big choppas, feel no pain....I don't think bikes are worth it. Taking a bike costs an extra 25 points per nob, and all it gives you is +1 toughness. The rest of it, you can replicate for free or with tactics via a transport.
You may want to consider boarding planks on those trukks.
However, I would maintain that shooting should not be part of a speed freak army. If you move at faster than combat speed, you can't shoot with your passengers anyway, and ideally, you should be disembarking, taking a fleet of foot movement to get into position, then assaulting. There's not much shooting to be had in there. =p

My plan was...
Wazdakka
Warboss w powerklaw
3 nobz bikers w powerklaw and waagh banner
3 nobz bikers w powerklaw and waagh banner
7 burna boyz in looted rhino
11 boyz w nob in trukk
12 boyz w nob in trukk
12 boyz w nob in trukk
12 boyz w nob in trukk
3 Deffkoptas w rokkits
7 warbikers w nob and powerklaw
is it too piecemeal? I do want some variation in my units, I prefer a characterful army to a squash your opponent with a million orks army.

S.J. don't expect me to prove the validity of my math here because I can't. =p
two units of 3 nob bikers each is MUCH easier to kill than one unit of 6 nob bikers. I don't think you should ever take an understrength unit when you play Orks. If you can fit 12 into a trukk...there needs to be 12. If you can put 30 into a mob...you need 30. If Lootas can have 15...you need 15.
Nob bikers: You need 10 of them, individually equipped for wound allocation, plus cybork bodies, plus a painboy with FNP, or you shouldn't take them at all. Then again, I don't think biker nobs are that great to begin with so...*laughing*
Lemme ask you this:
10 nobs on bikes before upgrades = 450 points.
10 nobs in a trukk before upgrades = 235 points
A. Bikes can move 12", shoot and assault.
B. Nobs in the trukk can move 12", shoot and assault.
A. Bikes have a 4+ armor save
B. Nobs in trukk have a 4+ armor save ('Eavy armor)
A. Bikes have a 4+ cover save
B. Nobs in the trukk can't be SHOT at. If their trukk goes boom, they're in a crater, which is 4+ cover.
A. Nobs on bikes are T4(5)
B. Nobs in the trukk are T4.
In essence, you're paying 215 extra points to gain +1 toughness, when that +1 isn't even going to help you against most of the stuff that shoots at your nob bikers (large blast, STR9/10 stuff)...battlecannons and such.
That extra 215 points could buy you a 30 ork boyz squad replete with a nob and powerklaw. It could buy you a tweaked out trukk boy squad with points left to spare. It could buy you a whole unit of kommandos. Is adding +1 parentheses toughness to a unit of nob bikers worth giving up a Force organization spot?

Thanks for your insight dashofpepper.
I see what you mean about maxing out the squad size, but can't two nob squads attack two different targets? instead of one squad getting held up in cc?
but then to get into cc you need numbers.
