After reading a few other threads about pushy redshirts and stores that won't let you play on their tables, I thought I'd make a 'review' list of GW stores.

Mine was boarded up not too long ago, well actually it is a store that sells little fruity candles now...

GW Helsinki is okay. We get along with the staff well, and the overall atmosphere is pretty good. I've been told off for loitering/yapping a few times, usually at busy season where me and the other loaf-arounds were taking up space. These days I carry my minis with me so I can always whip out a painting/conversion project and be assured of a few pointers, ideas or general banter. They even let me use the store bitz box for my Leman Russ scratchbuild.

The supply does not get to make the demands.

Same here, actually. It came with a new mall complex near here and somehow managed to stay in business for about five years. Rather surprising, especially since it wasn't in the right place to gear towards its typical audiences. Thank goodness it's gone Never was a fan of the store. Products good; store, not so much.

Everything's under control, situation normal... uh, we had a slight weapons malfunction, but uh... everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here now, thank you. How are you?

Mine is a little over an hour away. I went there a few times and it really got on my nerves. They would ask "hey so whatcha play?!?!" and WHILE your trying to tell them, they lay on the big sales pitch for whatever they are trying to push that month. Always made me feel like a big F and U getting cut off. Basterds! Im shaking my fist now!

Meh. If you've been in one, then you've been in them all. Even been to a few in France, it's the same except the people talk all funny over there.

I would eagerly add to the list, but there is no category for Canadian GW stores yet, and filing it under USA would probably be too confusing.

My local store is pretty good, compared to the reviews I've read of other stores. Relaxed staff [for the most part], 4 gaming tables [can be more], a consistent crowd of regulars on Saturdays, and even some decent [though not awesome - built for heavy use, I'd say] terrain.

My Forces:
DA Consecrators- 2000 points' worth, currently shelved

Imperial Guard - about 2000 points' worth, soon to be expanded

Christmas Orks - 1750 points' worth

People are like dice, a certain Frenchman said that. You throw yourself in the direction of your own choosing. People are free because they can do that. Everyone's circumstances are different, but no matter how small the choice, at the very least, you can throw yourself. It's not chance or fate. It's the choice you made.

um guessing the closest one i got is in reading PA. ive been there a few times, as well as a few others across the country.

they are all the same in my experience, jamming the new stuff down my throat, always trying to be overly nice and make a sale. i understand SOME shops might not be like that, but the ones ive been to were.

There ain't nearly enough Salvage in this thread!

GW NYC is way too small for the amount of runts/snotlings they pack into it. Only 2 tables, games are limites to 2 hrs. Staff is rather pleasant and remembers my name, even though I only buy paint there.
GW Philly(Franklin Mlls) PA is huge by comparison, with 6 tables and no time limits, but half the staff is total dicks (the other half is ok).

So the trade off is nice staf with no-place to play or plenty of space and putting up with 2 TFG that work there.

Here I thought the U.S. was Canada's undies.

Anyway, my store is the only GW I've been in, but it's got the standard team: The generally loud guy who tries to cram every new product into your throat, the guy who has nothing to say but finds a way to correct anything anyone else says, the guy who never shuts up about his army (which could totally destroy whatever you just mentioned), and the fairly quiet guy who doesn't say much and is actually paying attention when you either have a question or want to buy something.

They have the same team at my non-GW FLGS too.

"This is TOO expensive." "I'm going TO the store, TO get some stuff."
"That is THEIR stuff." "THEY'RE crappy converters."
"I put it over THERE." "I'll go to the store THEN."
"He knows better THAN that." "This is NEW." "Most players KNEW that."

In the Toronto Area we are quite lucky as there are at least 4 GWs within a 30 to 40min driving distance.

Vaughan Mills, Toronto Bunker, Oakville bunker and Scarborough.

All pretty much the same, pretty easy going but will pimp events to you every time you go in.

Rick Priestley said it best:
Bryan always said that if the studio ever had to mix with the manufacturing and sales part of the business it would destroy the studio. And I have to say – he wasn’t wrong there! The modern studio isn’t a studio in the same way; it isn’t a collection of artists and creatives sharing ideas and driving each other on. It’s become the promotions department of a toy company – things move on!

Mine is the LA bunker that looks nothing like a bunker.

I dont go there often but the first time I went, they where closed for a sales meeting or something, and the manager came out and gave me a free white dwarf to read while I was waiting. Kinda cool.

GW Belfast has good staff, but its let down is the dark far corner of the shopping centre its in, But on launch days it pulls massive crowds. The staff are all memorable and friendly, they listen to you and sugest things. Only two gaming tables, but they are limited on space.
They used to have staff that wernt so nice, but they wernt around long.
One of them loves me because he knows the only way to sell stuff to me is to jam it in my arms and stare for 5 mins. It's his personal challenge in life to sell to me!
