This is what I'm running @ Ard Boyz for my first time competing. I have had great success in pick up games with this list, but this is my first Ard Boyz and would like to have some insight. It comes out to 2499 points.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

Your army feels....very weird to me.

I always strongly advocate picking a theme and rolling with it to maximize the effectiveness of Orks, and you're mixing several themes here.

You've got a piece of a nob biker theme.
You've got a piece of a speed freak's theme.
You've got a piece of a kan-wall theme.
You've got a piece of a foot slogging theme.

I would say that any one of those themes by themselves are incredibly powerful. That's the power of Orks - they can pick something, and do it better than anyone in any other army. But you only get to pick one thing to do it with. I can't really critique your army list itself because the very premise of your list, and the tactics that sort of have to go with it sort of negate the greatest strength that Orks bring to a fight.

I agree it is too unfocused. Although the alpha strike is fast, the dread/kan backup is going to be too slow.

I'd say the dreads/kans are anti-thematic here. I'd suggest dropping them for more boys in trucks/bwagons.

From the way it has played in my testing it has worked out better than a thematic army. When I started testing the thematics I found I could take on one type of army, but found myself not able to handle the other types out there. So I came out with this hybrid. It has worked against:

Deathwing
SM Pod spam
Vulkan cheestan and his TH/SS termies
Chaos deamons
Chaos Rhino Rush
Chaos Double Lash
Tau
Necrons
Don't get me wrong I understand what you guys are saying and even thought that way until trying this list.

The Kans haven't been slow. The dread that is a troop has been tough to dig out of a objective. The tactic I have used to handle these has been a hammer/ anvil tat has worked so far. I dunno about how it'll do against IG/ 9tank though.

The only footslogging I have is the Kans and Dreads. The boys ride in trukks.

A couple of things...

1. A dread that is a troop choice still can't hold an objective. It can contest it, but so can....anything else. Even an empty transport. Using it to contest objectives is a waste of a dreadnought. o.O

2. Your foot-slogging element is your stormboyz. Turn 1, if I have ANY sort of large blast template or cover save ignoring goodness, its going on your stormboyz; they're the only unit on foot, which means that anti-infantry fire is pretty much directed at them.

I've sort of briefly explained things that I won't elaborate on because you sound pretty set in your ways; if you've found something that works for you, run with it! If that list is consistently beating down everyone, I'd be curious to know what lists they bring and what kind of players they are...I'd love to play against your list as Ork *or* Tau to see how it holds up. If you make it beyond your local 'Ard Boyz, I think you're going to run into a lot more melta than you're used to, more vehicles than you're used to, and the vehicles you run into....well, TL rokkits from a BS2 squad of deffkoptas don't scare the scary stuff.

The dread being a troop cant hold an objective because its a vehicle. Is that why?

No Dash,

I'm not set in my ways, I just know what I have experienced. The players I have played against have been tourney/cut-throat players.

I didn't realize the dred can't hold an objective. My bad. I thought the definition established here on Dakka was that Footslogging meant Boyz running on foot. I didn't understand until you pointed out that fact.

I think you'll have issues with a good Nidzilla build (and by good I mean one that still takes Venom Cannons). With no Lootas, the tyranid player can just sit back and shoot down the trucks while dropping pie plates on the nob bikers, storm boyz and deffkoptas.

Really, the only thing that is scary in this list at 2500 points is the squad of bikers, but they are only 1 threat. Everything else is going to take a couple of turns to setup and work effectively, and I don't expect a good opponent to give you enough time to really get your units in position.

Usdi, I'll say it one more time...

If it works for you, keep it! 'Ard boyz is less than two weeks away, which isn't really enough time to be making sweeping changes to an army list. If the combination that you've made and the strategy that you've developed works for you, then don't change anything...you winning is justification for not changing it.

Personally, I believe that I've made the perfect ork army list. I'm 57 wins, 1 loss, 1 draw across a vast assortment of tournaments, friendly games, and leagues with them. I'm 100% confident that my list will stomp your list. You're 100% confident that your list will stomp my list. That's a good thing! Orks win either way!

All we can do is wait and see what happens with both of our lists during 'Ard boyz.

I personally like your list man. Its gotz tats Orkie fiils to ets. Really mixed and no time for shooting just run straight at the enemy and kill !!!!!! haha I like it man. I'd say keep it if it keeps you winning I'm not gonna say my ig would have an easy go around with it.
