I may be starting an ork army at some point soon, and have been thinking about clans and affiliations and such. I like both the Bad Moons and the Death Skulls... I'm just curious if there's any fluff behind the two clans being in the same Waaagh. I figure that the Bad Moons have the best stuff, which makes natural fit for the dirty, lootin', stealin' Death Skulls. Will it work?

A Waaaaghh often consists of several different clans. And your right, Death Skulls following Bad Moons in hopes of looting their stuff, then some 'oomies show up, and we all go krump them.

Units, however, you should probibly stick to one or the other.

As mentioned, a Waaagh!!! consists of all of the clans. An individual horde also can consist of different clans.
To quote the Ork codex...

"A tribe is all the Orks in a given location, regardless of what kult or clan they may belong to..."

and

"...A large tribe usually contains many different clans..."

Thanks ladz! That does help quite a bit. Haven't picked up the Codex yet, though I've browsed through and was thoroughly impressed by what little I saw.

Bad Moons and Death Skulls together came about as an idea because I've seen great examples of both clans, and I figured the yellow and green and blue would look pretty striking on the field together. I'm going to toy with what units and such will become part of what clan. Bikers would be Bad Moons, for example, because they can afford 'da gud stuff', while mob of slugga boys gets a trukk and Death Skulls bloo to "get to da fightin' and lootin' fasta". And so on.

I thought a good start would be two of the Battleforces and some of the AoBR boyz - thoughts or suggestions?

It seems natural to me. The Bad Moonz have lots of stuff to nick, and the Deffskullz have fancy new stock to sell!

Incidentally, according to background I've read the powers of Khorne and Slaanesh are not "BFF", but due to the complexities of the conflicts between Khorne and Slaanesh, daemons of both powers can be found fighting side by side, and even against daemons of the same principality if the balance of power, alliances, favours, politics, and so on is right. I mean, how about that, daemons of chaos acting chaotically...

Mortal-wise, I'd imagine it's like religious people in the real-world: Protestant England and Catholic France teaming up with the Moslem Ottoman Empire to resist incursion by the Orthodox Russians in the Crimean War, for example. Or the People's Front of Judea and the Popular Front of Judea uniting to take on the Judean People's Front.

if you going to take death skulls i suggest taking tons of looted wagons painted blue and perhaps bad moons manning them to represent there wealth
