That's because death doesn't mean squat in comics. Hell, even Uncle Ben came back once. Then again, Marvel also decided that having Jesus Christ come down and console Spider-man in person that his aunt being shot wasn't his fault because the amount of people that are saved by Peter severely outnumbers the amount directly dead because of him so he must be doing a good job was a good idea. I wish like nothing else that I was making that up, too.

I actually thought the recent stories with "Bucky" have been much more interesting than 99% of any of the Steve Rogers stories in...well... pretty much ever.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all
We love our superheroes because they refuse to give up on us. We can analyze them out of existence, kill them, ban them, mock them, and still they return, patiently reminding us of who we are and what we wish we could be.

You know. My friend and I were talking about the state of Marvel comics this past weekend and I specifically remember him staying "I am glad that Marvel is sticking to their guns with this whole Steve Rogers death."
I blame him.....

Well.. Ben and Bucky were two of those characters that always had the tag of "we killed these fethers off and we're not bringing them back to life, EVAR", so yeah..

I'm a huge...HUGE.. Captain america fan. Evryone that knows anything about comics knew that he wouldn't stay dead. They were going to have to bring him back before the movie anyway, it was just a matter of time.

I think the only permanent Marvel death so far has been Scarlet Spider.
You know, the cooler, less whiny clone of Peter Parker.

Not impressed, I mean over at Invincible they've had superpowered, badass Lincoln running around for years.

Bucky was crap at being Cap. It was a joke. Marvel told Ed Brubaker to bring back the man ! Bucky is such a wimp. He could only carry the shield because he has a bioinc arm.... Captain America was injected with the super soldier secret serum.... No one knows just how powerful he is.... He went toe to toe with Hulk, Thor, Namor! All Bucky can do is run away.

To be honest with you, I thought the whole thing from the begining was a scheme to bring back Bucky. BUt they didn't want to bring him back in a corny 1940's red and blue costume. I really like the way Brubaker has handled it. Now we will get to see cap and Bucky together again, but without the cornyness.

I honestly cannot think of a Marvel character about whom I care less than Captain sodding America. Not even Cyclops is as lame.

I thought he became an interesting character in the Civil War saga... which was ruined in the end by the crappy delayed end the gave civil war.

Have you read any of Volume V? Which is the current volume written by Brubaker. It is considered one of the best comics Marvel has been putting out for the last few years. I agree that some of the stuff from the 90's, especially the dreaded Leifeld stuff, was garbage. The best Captain America stuff was the 70's stuff with The Falcon as his sidekick and also the 80's stuff versus the serpent society.

Brubaker is a good writer but sometimes I think he carries things too far, but maybe that is the trend now in general for comic books. I am interested to see how the five volume series plays out. Captain America is back in WWII... if his memory is intact it will be very interesting to see if any major changes occur to the storyline.

I have not heard how they returned Stevie back to life but in "Marvel Universe: The End #6", on page 17, Thanos claims " Death will now be permanent. Never again will there be any miraculous resurrections. No fooling or bargaining with the great divide. Heroes will no longer be recycled." I guess Marvel repented of this promise going by Spider-Man's recent history, so I guess it is okay to bring back Stevie now.

He just fails to appeal to me on any level, for much the same reason Superman fails to appeal to me. He's basically a boy scout wrapped in the American flag.
