I swear I'll come up with a list eventually... I know I'll be fighting a god awful amount of marines and not much else at my particular tournament. Aside from marines, there's 2 heavily mechanized ork armies and a nidzilla force. With that in mind, I came up with this after a couple of play test games against MEQs.

HQ
Shas'el- fusion, plasma, TA, hwmt, hwdc, 2SD, stimms, bk 147
2 Shas'vre- fusion, plasma, TA, hwmt 144

Shas'el- fusion, plasma, TA, hwmt, hwdc, hwbsf, 2SD 130
2 Shas'vre- fusion, plasma, TA, hwmt 144

ELITE
3 Crisis Suits- fusion, plasma, mt. Team leader with hwdc, bk, 2SD 226
3 Crisis Suits- tlmp, flamer 141
6 Stealth Suits- 180

TROOPS
6 FCW- 60
Devilfish- mt, dp, ta 100
6 FCW- 60
Devilfish- mt, dp, ta 100
6 FCW- 60
10 Kroot- 70

FAST ATTACK
8 Pathfinders- 96
Devilfish- mt, dp, ta 100

HEAVY SUPPORT
3 Broadsides- ASS. team leader w/hwdc, hwbsf, hwtl 2SD 283
3 Broadsides- ASS. team leader w/hwdc, hwbsf, hwtl 2SD 283
Hammerhead- railgun, burst cannons, mt, dp, tl, bsf 175

I wish I could put some piranhas in there, but I've already spent enough money getting the army ready for this tournament (3 new broadsides). I feel it stand a chance because there are so many targets for the opposing army's anti-tank guns. I know that the squad of kroot and the squad of stealth suits are less than optimal choices for this style of army, however, I've painted them up quite nicely (IMHO) and am loathe to replace them with something unpainted. So will it win or will it just fail?

After my last few practice games i'm gonna have to say that only 3 squads of firewarriors is going to leave you very light in the objective missions. You might have lots of targets to shoot at but a good general will knock out your transports and then lap up the soft squishy insides.

yeah, I know... maybe drop some random stuff and get another small fcw squad or two... mostly just to hide.

If I were you I'd drop the stealthsuits to do that.

Or get more kroot. 10 kroot is too few. get 10 more.

Feasting on the souls of unworthy opponents

You and I play quite similarly, althrough a few minor differences come to fore: I don't use kroot or stealth suits, and I prefer my 3rd heavy support to be 3x sniper teams. A few notes:

1. I think you should drop the 10 kroot and pick up 6 more firewarriors, which should go into the pathfinder devilfish later in the game.

2. Personally, I think Kroot are a waste. I think you should drop them completely in favor of putting those points elsewhere. You can make a horrific gunline in 2500 points, and your broadsides and suits are the start of it; dropping a kroot into the enemy rear on a flanking move to try stealing an objective is just going to get them killed.

3. When I play Tau (and hopefully how you're going to play this list) is not to try objective capping or mobile flanking trickery....you're freakin' Tau. Instead, I play to table my opponent. With pure Tau firepower, its quite possible; you don't see it so much anymore because everyone tries balancing their army to be able to do a bit of everything. I say go full out in one direction. For Tau, massive, withering firepower. You don't need to cap your opponents' objectives. You just need to kill their troop choices. If you own one and they have no troops...you win.

You've got the firepower to annihilate mechanized lists, and I'm a particular fan of suits with fusion/plasma combinations. I typically try and get markerlight abilities in there so that they shoot at BS5 to minimize missed hits. I think you'd appreciate having more pinning abilities than you currently have if you'll fit it in there somewhere. Also, I think that the airbursting frag launcher is almost mandatory in any list. Stick it on one of your Shas'el models.

I certainly agree with the other posters Some other ideas. Try to make all of your crisis suits different from one another to take advantage of the new complex unit wound allocation. Also the ECM grenade may be of use to add a bit of sneak attack anti-tank that no one suspects. Good list have fun at ard boyz
