I was really looking forward to this... but every time I look at it I can't help but think "40K Action Play Set!".

Is it just the one piece? Having the Rhino with the blasted track is a nice touch. 40k Action Playset! Haha....that's golden!

I know :(

I anticipate a thread in the painting and modeling forum entitled "how are you covering up those stupid eyes" once this is released. It will be interesting to see what people do. I'll probably just cut them out and cover the whole thing with GS.

But anyway I'm going to purchase one of these. The scene this terrain feature presents IMO is too specific to be used multiple times on a board. But, then again the price point is low enough (especially when purchased from Maelstrom) so who knows.

Needs flowers poking through the ruins, birds nesting in the rhino and children splashing in the pools the formed in the crater.

Well since SOB/WH and DH all have access to Rhinos...

I know I'm looking forward to painting the rhino up to match my SOB so that I can use the piece as a cool piece of themed terrain or an objective when I play them...

(I'll be leaving off the "spooky" trees...)

I want to know why a Rhino costs $30 when this kit basically comes with a Rhino + Craters and costs $25.

Not sure why, but this is the only new terrain kit I don't like. Can't quite put my finger on it.

Because this Rhino's a one-piece blow mould, not three sprues of parts?

That would explain why the 5-man Imperial Guard HQ squad is more expensive then 10 shock troopers.

IG got the love years back with the vacuum foam Chimera terrain piece. They just don't make sense on my tabletop. What respecting Ork would have left those hulls on the battlefield?

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Due out the same day as the new IG tanks, according to my local GW, if people weren't sure.

Peculiar looking piece of terrain. Ditch the trees (if that's what they are) and it'll look ok.

This piece of terrain is obviously false, didn't one of those WD articles a few years back say how the Space Marines start crying and get terribly upset if one of their vehicles (even a Rhino) gets lost in battle. So upset that they perform 'rescue' missions to bring these vehicles back?

This Rhino has obviously been laying around for a long time =/= being rescued. Conclusion: This is all wicked false propaganda to smear the Space Empror!

The land of cotton.

It looks great but will be horrible to play on/with. You can tell just by looking at it there is only space for a handful of models to stand level.

Would make a nice start for a scenic base or mini-dio to display stuff on though.

Sorry, the trees ruin the piece for me. I wouldn't expect even the trunks to remain standing given the level of bombardment the terrain shows.

And eyes ?!?!!!

But the price will make me buy one and salvage it to my tastes. Maybe replace the eyed trees with stick "trunks" leaning or downed due to the blast waves.

Yeah, I didn't think about that....there's no way those trees would still be standing that close to those craters. Lame!

It'd be easy enough to cut them off though, and I still like the burnt-out Rhino.

They're not trees - they're obviously camouflaged Ork Kommandos. The eyes give it away. How do you think the Rhino got slagged in the first place?

Where are you guys seeing the eyes? The only thing that looks like an eye to me is the round thing at the top of the right-most tree, but when you look at that from a different angle (IG Codex back cover), you can see that's just a branch. The one on the IG cover also has less trees, maybe they're removable/optional?

I have to laugh at the whole tree thing.

Have you guys ever seen the photos from Tunguska in the early 1900s? A blast roughly more powerful than the bombs on Hiroshima/Nagasaki, and there were still trees standing at the impact site.

Anyways, the eye is a mine.
