Given that the previous season of Torchwood was such an abomination I decided to wait for the reviews of the new Torchwood series to come in before watching it. Did anyone watch it, was it any good?

Somewhere in south-central England.

I didn't watch it because I either missed or gave up half way through the last season.

I'm writing a load of fiction. My latest story starts here... This is the index of all the stories...

It was fairly good, would of prefered some new Doctor Who myself though.

Better than most of last season.

Not perfect and perhaps a bit too midwich cuckoo, but worth a watch. I think the format of the 5 episodes is helping here perhaps.

The poor man really has a stake in the country. The rich man hasn't; he can go away to New Guinea in a yacht. The poor have sometimes objected to being governed badly; the rich have always objected to being governed at all

I quite liked it.

For a five parter, I was glad to see the script writers playing Tight Mouthed Larry as to what is going on. There are pretty strong hints, but I'm filing them as 'Red Herrings' just now.

Personally, I'm kind of hoping it's the Time Lords coming back. Saw a picture in the Sun of the new Doctor, The Master and a third spod standing together. And the third spod had a distinctly Gallifreyan symbol on the front of his robes.....

Oh, and so far, very little bad language and no rumpy pumpy.

That would be good. Dr Who has been one of my favorite shows since it first came out, and now I'm getting my daughter into it.

How many seasons has Torchwood run for now? I only saw the first season, and it seemed like every show was a journey into angst.

This is the third series, and so far it's pretty good.

Gone is the mindless swearing, and nary a hint of Russell T Davies rather annoying Fruity Agenda.

Am missing tonights episode though, as it's Pub night. And tomorrows, because it's a Friday night, so I'm driving my Taxi!

For those of use that have now seen all 5 episodes:

Spoiler:
What do you think the future holds for the Torchwood franchise? As much as I'd hate to see him go, Captain Jack is immortal, John Barrowman isn't, so you have the whole "signs of aging" to consider in future episodes. So perhaps him going away was a good move. As to Torchwood, perhaps they could bring in the Special Operations woman on board, with Gwen as team leader?

Live your life that the fear of death can never enter your heart. Trouble no one about his religion. Respect others in their views and demand that they respect yours. Love your life, perfect your life. Beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and of service to your people. When your time comes to die, be not like those whose hearts are filled with fear of death, so that when their time comes they weep and pray for a little more time to live their lives over again in a different way. Sing your death song, and die like a hero going home.

Interesting idea Wolfstan, Gwen, as we've seen, is pretty much the mainstay character, I'm sure it'll carry on in some form or another, at least for another series.

This mini-series had me on the edge of my seat and running around the house screaming in suspense all week, the format really worked, it was wells scripted, well written allround, and dealt with a political angle very well.

'Fruity agenda?' Lol, you do make me smile sometimes Doc, if it was a fruity agenda you'd be watching Bruno with lasers

(Hopes there arn't lasers in Bruno...)

Definately a massive improvement on Series 2, so go and Iplayer it, NOW!

Spoiler:
What about Captain John Lords? He's not immortal (so no aging issue), but has time travel capability and would have alien knowledge coming from the 51st Century?

Just an idea.

Spoiler:
Ahh, but don't forget, with the Hub being knackered in the explosion, they will also need a new base of operations. Possibly. Personally, I'd like to see it go a bit more early X-Files, tracking down Alien infiltrators etc. But I totally agree, it really suited the mini-series format
