Forgive me if I'm just being whiny here, but is there any way the "This message was edited 18 times." message could be put below the signature line?

I always end up editing my posts, but the little note sticking out at the bottom gives me fits of OCD. I know Warseer has it below the sig line, and I was wondering there's a reason for it to be part of the post on Dakka?

(I'll understand if it's not something worth changing just because I'm complaining about it, but I really do wonder if there's a reason behind it.)

Anuvver fing - when they do sumfing, they try to make it look like somfink else to confuse everybody. When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Da funny fing is, arf of 'em believe it and da over arf don't, so 'e 'as to hit 'em all anyway or run fer it.

I don't know. I just feel like it distracts people from my snappy one-liners, and it wigs me out.

It is there because that was the default. It would take a marginal amount of effort to move it below so I'm happy to go with what people prefer. I dont think it would be better below though as it matches the sig font by default and would muck up people's sigs which are supposed to be consistent. I would just align it to the right but that would look quite crappy as there is no other text on that side of the page so it would break up the flow of the page quite a bit.

I think it is much more useful above, as below it would instantly be easy to miss depending on the texture of the user's sig.

With that said, I do feel the note could be quite a bit closer to the sig 'line'. As it defaults now if the user doesn't add a carriage return to the end of his post the 'edited' note appears closer to the final line of text than it does to the sig line, which IMHO clutters things a bit.

Ah, that's a really good point.

It would still get the message out of the way, but it would be easier to see.

YO DAKKA DAKKA!

Besides, it's not a snappy one-liner...

...if I had to go back and fix it.

It would be a stumbling mess.

I've altered the code to add the edit message just above the horizontal rule. The changes will go live whenever I do another release, but that might be some time as I'm working on some big optimisation stuff at the moment which needs a lot of offline testing.
