Ok so I guess the G-8 knows everything about how our planet is supposed to be. I think it is ridiculous for them to state what is ideal, and what is not (regarding the climate). Yes, we do have empirical evidence that shows where we were a hundred years ago, but prior to that (and including up to X years) how exact do we know that information to be. I think it is just another power play to limit certain industries.

We can find out what CO2 levels where thousnds of yers go by taking ice cores and analysing them.
But what most people don't know is tht earth is in an ice age, it dosn't normally have ice at the poles

When one of them wants to lord it over the uvvers, 'e says "I'm very speshul so'z you gotta worship me", or "I know summink wot you lot don't know, so yer better lissen good". Thing is, the global temperature can be whatever it wants to be. However, we've built a global economy based on some fairly basic assumptions about what the temperature is and how that temperature affects global weather patterns. If temperatures continue to rise then the rainfall patterns we're used to and have built our farming around will no longer exist, this will lead to food shortages and the need to spend great piles of money relocating farming infrastructure. Right now cities are built around fresh water supplies, with changes in rainfall patterns many major cities will no longer be sustainable in their present locations, and we will have to spend great piles of money to relocate.
Right now we can spend some time and some money to limiting temperature increases by controlling emissions, or we can stuff about and spend many, many trillions in a few generations.
Oh, and also right now a number of diseases are limited to equatorial regions. With an increase in global temperatures you're going to see a lot more people dying of malaria.
I think it is just another power play to limit certain industries.
It isn't and that claim makes no sense.
