Looking for good tactics using space marine models against orks and ork tactics against space marines. Using the ASOBR set. I'm kinda new to the game so anything helps.

With just the aobr models...
As orks keep the nobs behind some boyz so they don't get plastered
get the warboss into krumpin range very very quickly and give him a cybork body
keep da boyz away from the termies and the dread unless they have a pk (although you only have the warbosses untill you make a pk nob)
Utilize the deffkoptas keep them in groups of 1 for morale purposes and if you have the points give them buzzsaws
As marines get the termies or the dread into the boyz
abuse the dread the warboss is the most likely thing to kill it and the dread strikes first at S10 no armor save
shoot everything to death assault is not where marines belong
combat squad just cause its annoying as all hell
take out the deffkoptas fast
use the termies as much as possible a 2+ against orks is annoying as hell
Its mostly obvious stuff but as a beginner i guess you might not think of it right away.

as an ork player its pretty much a race for the deffkoptas and warboss to kill the dred
if you can kill the koptas and warboss fast nothing can kill the dred

get drop pods and drop the dred behind the boss making sure the warboss are at least 13 but not over 18 away if they move and try to assault it but they will be out of range . Meaning if you can assault him next turn and kill him with instant death since the strength of the dread when using the power fist is double of the warbosses toughness meaning he losses all his wounds and can't strike back then melta then assault the deff coptas

deffskullz is right. The orks need to kill that dread. The koptas need to be grouped as single model squads. Let them try and suicide the dread. Sometimes you will get lucky and sometimes you won't. In any event having the koptas in seperate squads will keep them alive longer (since the SM player will have to split his fire to take them all out). They might get a second chance to kill the dread or they might distract the SM player long enough for you to put a hurting on him in the assault. I wish they were grots in the koptas. The ork boyz BS is pitifully low. If you can take buzzsaws they will do much better, though at 500 points that means you will have to play with your list to fit them. As an Ork player your first purchase should probably be the nobz box set. You can boost your nobz unit with special weapons, which will give them more utility against heavy armor and you can use the multi wound distribution tactic. That will keep the tough nobz alive longer. Also you can give your boyz mob a PK nob with a bosspole, which is what every boyz unit needs. I don't play SMs.

Yeah, the Nobz box set is a must-have. It's worth avoiding gluing the AOBR nobz till you have the box set, too, since there's more than enough bits & pieces in the Nobz set to customise some AOBR nobz too.

Space Marines need to split the Tac squad into combat squads. Attach the Captain to the CS with Seargent and Flamer. Try to use the Flamer/Bolters on the boys if possible for maximum effect, I'd definitely try to shoot for as long as possible. The RL and Dread need to be focused on the Coptas and Warboss. Don't forget to fire those 4 bolters 24" for a chance on the Coptas, too.
Theoretically the Dread will do a lot of hurting to the Warboss, seeing as it strikes first, but the Boss can wreck the Dread too. The Captain has a decent chance at the Warboss with his Powersword to strike first and ignore armor, and his Invulnerable save for a chance to survive against the PK if it swings back. The Nobs are just a massive pain no matter how you slice it, so do what you can to shoot them early, or tie them up with the Dread if it gets down to assault or get assaulted.
