So following on the other posts, I am making one for Imperial Guard. Now I know they recently have a new codex, and it has lots of fun options, but anyone that's read it carefully can tell some things are...lacking or possibly even typos.

-Let Platoon special weapon squads come with frag nades and have the option to take kraks. They gave this to HWTs but I'm pretty sure this is a mistake (their summary entries are right next to each other)

-Fix Ogryns! There have been lots of suggestions, though I suppose its probably better to reduce their points costs rather than fiddle with their stats- reducing their points by 5-10 would make it a little more worth it.

-More wargear options, particularly things that modify command and leadership bubbles which would be nice in a more mobile army.

-Let ICs take a horse as a 5 point upgrade. The horse simply makes the IC count as 'cavalry' and is used so you could have a IC accompany a rough rider squad (plus, let's face it, a Comissar Lord on a horse would look BAD ASS )

-Make sentinels also an elites and troops FOC choice. They're fairly inexpensive and it would let you take lots of them. It also means you could free up fast attack slots. Right now it seems like its not so much that they are a bad unit, just that there are better units (Valks, fast tanks) competing for the same slots. Maybe allow you to take 5 per squadron- I would LOVE to see a Sentinel army!

Adjsut the pts cost of Valkyries, and especially Vendettas. Way too cheap for all that they can do. (Seriously- I play IG, but I still think theyre broken)

Ratlings- I think they are pretty good, they are the cheapest BS4 sniper unit in the game. Maybe make them Troops with a limit on the number of squads (like max of 2 squads, which is reasonable). Really the only downside is they take up an elites slot.

Enginseers- Allow them to be...
standalone, in which case you can have up to 9 servitors, with 1 in 3 able to take a hvy bolter, plasmacannon or multimelta at BS4. Since they're practically robots, give them relentless and let the techpriest take a dedicated transport. Then you have a much tougher, longer ranged version of a melta vet squad that can also repair damaged vehicles and has powerfists. These changes might make it worth its cost.

Or let them be a squad upgrade for a command or platoon command squad much like a comissar.

Storm Troopers- Reduce their point cost to 12 points per model. I think this is reasonable since if you compare the cost to SoB they are a rip off. But if they are reasonably priced then they'd be viable and you wouldn't see the same old boring mech vet lists.

Valkryres- Agreed, these need their point cost raised. I think the best way to do this is to take the total cost of a Valk+naked 10 man storm trooper squad and shift the point burden toward the transport. People would still take these because having a fast skimmer that can do so much is just too useful to pass up, but they wouldn't cheese out with them.

Rough Riders- Guys on horses should be more durable. Maybe either have them come with carapace or give them T4. They are hard to keep in cover so they need something for their survivability. Another thing I really think they need to have is SCOUT!

Vox-Casters work at any range.

Commissars have access to the same weapons as Commissar Lords rather than being glorified Sergeants.

Power Weapons = 5 points.
Power Fists = 8 Points
Plasma Pistols = 5 Points
Restore Storm Bolters = 2 Points

Punisher reduced in cost by 50 points.

Exterminator reduced in cost by 20-30 points (not worth the cost of a vanilla Russ).

Chimera reduced a further 5 points.

Hellhound variants all reduced by 20 points.

Vendetta cost increased by 30 points.

Heavy Weapon teams returen to 6 W1 models.

Company Command Section Standard Bearer allows re-roll of morale/pinning checks out to 12". Platoon Command Section Standard Bearer allows re-roll of morale/pinning checks out to 6" (not sure if they do this already to be honest).

Basilisk reduced by 20 points to make it worth taking again.

Plama Guns back down to 10.

Heavy Bolter and Mortar to 5.

Vanquisher gets its regular Battlecannon shot back. Ensure it is 20-30 points more expensive than a regular Russ.

Reduce all Sentinel costs by 1/4 or 1/5 (-ish).

And let Nork Deddog shoot a Battlecannon round out of each eye. That's about the only thing that would make him worth his points cost.

No roughriders are suppose to be feral dudes who's minds bogle at the though of shaving and toilets. Give them those robotic horses Mogal has and give it a fake skin that is falling off due to battle damage. maybe standard IG can have Harleys and can drag chains for 10 points a model. or five and their armor save is reduced to 6+

Give the command squad its aura of command back. It obviously can't be used with orders but still.

The command squad needs to be able to take stuff as an accompaniment like in the last codex. That would make sentinels takable without eating up fast attack slots.

give storm troopers jumppacks at 5 points per model so that deep striking them make a little more sense when there are no valkyries in the army, and it would make them worth their point cost.

Reduce plasma guns to 10 points and lascannons to 15 points

Valkdettas need a point increase, mostly the vendetta. Also get rid of those missiles, their a waste of space. Not the missile pod, thats cool, but the hellfury and hellstrike are pretty much valueless.

I agree, although perhaps then they should add a rule that you can only have one Commissar per Infantry Platoon attached to an Infantry Squad (in addition to the possible one on the Platoon Command Squad of course.)

Because otherwise you'll make hidden powerfists a viable option and have blocks of 66 Guardsmen with 6 Commissars with powerfists running around Stubbornly assaulting everything. By the mathhammer they're almost as good as Orks at assaults. Which would change the character of the Guard. Which is why they don't currently allow it, but my head asplodes when Commisars in Platoon Command Squads are allowed to Powerfist, which makes sense only in a game balance perspective. Nice doctrine there, Guard

Ah, yes, good point. Forgot about that. In our version Commissars are 0-1 per platoon, so I forgot GW allows as many of them as you have Sergeants.

So, yes, 0-1 per platoon (and give them decent statlines - WS4 BS4 S3 T3 W2 I4 A3 Ld10 Sv4+/5+(I)), that's worth a base of 20 points (and not a point more), and then they can upgrade from there.
