Subject: Fully Mech IG + PBS?

Does a fully mech vet IG list mesh well with a PBS? I am looking at 5 squads of vets ( 3 in chims w/ 3xMG and 2 in vend w/ 3xMG) Along with 2LRBTs (one exec), command squad, and 2 valks.
Would this set up work well with a PBS? I am trying to find a list that works, and I'm finding that pure mech vet has too many sacrificial squads and too few methods of dealing with ld 10 / fearless chaos.

In my experience yes, there is always a place for some Mech PBS. For 175 points you get a nice Chimera and the ability to either load out a St 8 variable ap large blast (half the time your ap will be 1,2 or 3, which means you kill MEQs) or reduce the LD of an enemy unit by 8. I can't tell you how many times I have used my vendettas to pick off a terminator or two and then watch them run away because of weaken resolve.
All in all, a Mech PBS is always a solid investment.

They are a solid unit. Just be aware that an army with Hood or Runes of Warding will make them miserable, so they are more of a complementary unit and probably shouldn't be a main focus. I know I don't really want to see them lined up across from me, though.

You CAN'T go wrong with fleet commanders though.
Seeing that many vehicles on the board makes a lot of people want to start turn 1 in reserve to avoid getting nuked so hard....and it comes as a nasty surprise when they find out that they need 6+ for reserves, not 4+.

Yeah, a PBS is a decent unit whose powers help to bolster the defense of an IG army.
I'd mount it in a Chimera for extra protection and leave it in there whenever possible.

Another underrated ability about them nobody has mentioned is that their abilities have a range of 36 inches, where most other psyker abilities are 12-24 range. This makes it easier to keep them out of harm's way.
While competent players can easily counter weaken resolve (mechanized armies, fearless, stubborn units, etc) a lot of casual players might not. In a casual battle, the Psyker Battle Squad would do very well because you'll likely have many ripe targets at your disposal.
