Why, o WHY... for Sisters of battle Flamer gals... why do they have Scopes on the Flamers? Are they THAT bad at aiming?

I can see Meltas with scopes, I can see Bolters with Scopes.. but for something that spews flames all over the place.. accuracy is JUST NOT that important.

Thanks for reading, and back to painting I go..

If they bother you that much you could just remove them from the models right?
I've never actually seen them but I'd imagine it'd be same as the SM scopes that come with some of their bolters? Just stuck on a flamer?

They are harder to remove than that..

metal model, the scope is on the inner side of the flamer, between the weapon and the body. I will try to post a picture later today.

A new day, a new time zone.

Who says it's a scope? Maybe it's an infrared range finder, that conveniently shows foul heretics even when they're hiding behind walls, as well as depicting an estimated dispersal overlay so you can make sure you're keeping your target right in the middle of the promethium stream...

"-Nonsense, the Inquisitor and his retinue are our hounoured guests, of course we should invite them to celebrate Four-armed Emperor-day with us..."

That's what I thought it was, because a scope would be ridiculous but an infrared range finder makes sense.

Once upon a time, I told myself it's better to be smart than lucky. Every day, the world proves me wrong a little more.

Columbus, Oh

true enough..

However, an Infrared range finder would become totally useless after the first shot, I suspect.

Yes, I admit I am thinking about this too hard.

A new day, a new time zone.

That's all you need it for. It shows you heretics cowering on the other side of that barricade, so you flame on. Are they in flames and screaming? Mission accomplished, move onto the next trouble area. If they aren't, continuing firing until burnination is achieved.

Lol, Bookwrack.

Besides, there's nothing more embarrassing than expending holy promethium fuel when the guy's out of range. It's not like it's a mistake that's easy to not notice.

Lol ya i think the GIANT JET OF FIRE would be enought light for you and allies
to turn night fight to light fight.

TheCyben: Seriously though, I'm not advocating GW to model any Boosh characters. If they have to pick one, it would have to be Tony Harrisson... but that would be an outrage.

You would expend holy ammunition for a purpose other than purging heretics? For something as trivial and needless as light? The Emperor is your light! He will guide you to what you should shoot! Let not your weak eyes tempt you, you must let your faith transcend the failings of your mortal flesh! To do otherwise, to lack in your faith, would be heresy, my friend. You know, maybe I *do* have something to shoot this promethium at!

Women look hot when they're aiming through a scope.

Why do they always put females together with fire? What are GW trying to say?

That women are inherently pyromaniacs?

Sisters of Battle Vow of Chastity is an purely Myth, the only reason they don't "get it on" is because men make the mistake of saying "oh yeah, purge me baby"
(shakes his head) Oh why won't we ever learn?

On Topic
As a few people have said, Just imagine them to be an infared sensor to detect hidden enemies or, if applicable assume its a chemical tank to make the flamer as potent as it is etc etc. It can be anything you want

Initial concept: "nuns with guns"

40K realization: 40K nuns will be angry and want to burninate "heretics" (a termapplied loosely)

The scopes on their flamers are minor. I wish that the range had been given some variety so that every sister wasn't an exact clone with same hair cut, facial features, etc.

I wish we had some fatter sisters, some more varied physical features, maybe a few bald sisters(angry bald woman=hot), maybe a one eyed cannoness, etc. etc A little variety would add tons of character that the clone effect and limited sculpts hinders at present.

Sisters really deserve a plastic multi-pose kit to remedy some of this, but I'm not holding my breath...

Scopes on any type of weapon are used for more than just aiming. Recon comes to mind, the sisters need to be able to see long distances in order to hunt down thier enemies.

Probably the same reason that people think the extra lights on the land raider are turn signals. They have never been around military vehicals and dont know that most of them come equiped with IR lights.

They're video cameras, when the Sisters get back to the convent they like to watch blooper reels of screaming heretics running around on fire.

I thought it was funny, I didn't notice it at all until painting. I was painting the lenses on the scopes and picked that one up, went to put it down after notcing it was a flamer; then I saw the scope

Never get rid of it, it's special.

I thought it was less a scope and more a blessed ranging tool to indicate when maximum burnination had been achieved.
