I play Dark Heresy alot, but do not always have accurate miniatures for the PCs during combat phases.
Can someone help me fill in the blanks here:
Useable Miniatures:
Guardsman- Guardsman
Psyker- Sanctioned Psyker
Arbiter- BLANK
Scum- Necromunda models
assassin- BLANK
Whatever the scribe-like people are called-BLANK

Necromunda models can cover a lot of them, including the Assassin. Inquisitorial Henchman cover this as well.
And use an Arbite as an Arbite. Sounds obvious, but why not?

That's not a bad idea, but they're a little to large for the size table I'm using (I can't fit 100 proportional meters on the table).

I didn't know that DH really needed minis (unlike, say, D&D 3.5 or 4E).

It doesn't really, but it sure makes combat scenes alot easier (to play, not to beat).

Like many RPG´s you can play DH just fine without any props. But using a few miniatures helps you visualize the situation much better than just saying "the Xenos are behind you" and drawing some X´s and Y´s on a piece of paper.

So, you get pre-generated characters ( or at least pre-selected classes )? That is a good way to introduce the system to new players. Just a few friendly tips from an older Acolyte:
1) You are not the Inquisitor. How much authority you have is entirely dependent on the Inquisitor. Talk with your GM whether your Boss has given you somekind of sealed letter
or datachip that identifies you as his minions.
2) Discretion is the key. Depending on the campaign/ GM, most often you as Acolytes will be working undercover. Walking around in a wretched hive of scum and villainy screaming
"Imperial Inquisition!" is generally a VERY bad idea.
3) Don´t start unnecessary fights. The combat system is brutal and deadly. Keep your wits and make use of cover, supressing fire etc or you will get killed. (Protip: shotguns or
flamers are a good choice for starting characters for close range work. )
4) Keep an eye on the party Psyker. The Psyker is the only Class that can cause TPK ( Total Party Kill ) all on his own. Psychic powers should only be used when other
options are exhausted or unsuitable. If the Psyker feths up and causes a calamitious Warp phenomena don´t hesitate to borrow the Comissariat rule of "It´s for your own
good!"

All psykers start equipped with a "psykana mercy blade."
Don't know what that is?
It's a blade used to kill the psyker if something goes wrong.
Anyway, techpriest is a good class, you'll do well.
I myself am usually a guardsman based on sniping.

I think using actual miniatures is a good idea. Just makes things easier for everyone to visualise, plus if you own a copious amount of tilesets (Space Hulk, Warhammer Quest, the newer D&D cardstock tilesets) you can do a lot of cool things with them.
As for using Inquisitor stuff, not only is that expensive and hard to get a hold of, it limits what you can do. If I want my party to fight off a horde of zombies, it's much easier for them to fight off a stack of my LatD mutants than it is to model up 54mm zombies.

- Arbiter can be a 40k Stormtrooper, 40k IG Kasrkin, or Necromunda Arbiter.
- Assassin can be 40k Inquisition Death Cultist, or Inquisition Assassin
- check the WH & DH retinues for the scribe
BTW, you know that you can convert stuff, right?

I know I can convert stuff, I've already converted a guy to be an arbiter, but it's not very accurate.

DH and WH armies have plenty of useful models especially the inquisitor's retinue models. DH and WH are great for assassins, clerics, sisters and adepts. Necromundo line has great scum and hivers as well as arbiters. IG armies has plenty of guardsmen, techpriests, and psykers. Also forgeworld has some inquisitors and retinue models worth checking out.
They need to release rogue trader soon. I seriously can't wait for that.

Not released yet, but from the previews it looks like the same system. Only this time it's centered on playing a rogue trader crew. It's a seperate core rule book with new classes etc, but it looks like it will be compatible with the DH stuff.
